Who will win the 2014 Wimbledon Championships?

It's frightening how bad she looks here. She finally won the 10 minute long first game of the match. Her footwork and movement look awful.

What do you think Team10?

Also, Duval def. [29] Cristea 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, really good win for Vicky. She's been playing pretty well for her first real year on tour, kinda bummed for Cristea though. She hasn't been doing well lately.

Lastly, Madison Keys def. Puig 6-3, 6-3. Great day with the results.

I was going to say the same. Everything has gone well for my favorites today even Vika: De Brito, Duval, Garcia and now Genie won 1st set. Enjoying the day so far!
 
Yeah not looking good so far. Then agin, it's only the first two games of her first match here. Serena sometimes starts slow like this and gets it back.

EDIT: DTL, you're right about the footwork. Did you see that fall a minute ago?

I hope so. For me, personally, there's no better player to watch on the women's side than Serena when she's on.

When Tatishvil was serving at Adv Serena, Serena basically went for a running forehand and slipped and fell on her @ss. Didn't look that great, but it seems like it was nothing serious.

Yeah when she's on, no one can stop her. 2012 Olympics come to mind, she just dominated the field. I have to admit though, I'm not a huge Serena fan.

Yikes, well when all is said and done Serena is leading 3-1 so at least she's getting it done. Like you said, she just needs to work herself into form.

Yeah great day! I like all of those players with the exception of De Brito. How can you watch her play? That shriek is awful.

Hopefully Bouchard gets it done soon.

I like her game (unlike Sharpie: breaks my ears, annoying attitudes + boring game = triple whammy for me, lol)
 
WOW, Hantuchova was really nailing those backhands but Bouchard got them back! Should have been 0-40, but now 15-30

Little of both. When Serena was serving for the set at 5-1, she hit three aces in a row lol. She's got this one easy.

And she gets it with a nice forehand return! I know it's only the 1st round but what a win to kick off Wimbledon. Hantuchova may not be seeded but her game does not correlate. She's a top 20 or at least top 30 level player.

Speaking of top players: looks like Jankovic is about to go down to Kanepi, down 3-6 2-5 and, Kanepi serving.

Serena gets through Tatishvili easily 6-1 6-2. Didn't look that easy to me but like a champ she got it done.

She's got McHale or Scheepers in the next round, with Cornet a possible 3rd round matchup and Bouchard looming in the 4th round.
 
I expect drama in the Vinci - Vecik match if Vecik collapses.

Veni vidi Vecik Vinci vici or Vecik veni Vinci vici? Or something like that! :grin:

They allowed the Vinci-Vekic match to continue but suspended the last two matches.

Vekic def. Vinci[21] 6-4 4-6 6-4

Suspended matches to be completed tomorrow:

Zvonareva[WC] vs. Moore[WC] 6-4 6-7(3)

Diyas vs. Mladenovic 7-6(4)

Some were surprising, some not. It's not surprising the two Italians were dispatched, although Pennetta is still alive and Fognini somehow made it through his 5-set 1st round match. That nation just can't play on grass.

At least 13 of the top 15 players are still alive. So far it's shaping up to be a much less messed up draw than last year. Only one round though.

Huge attrition to me.
 
After battling to win the 1st set, Venus is looking pretty darn good in this 2nd set as she's threatening to break to go up 5-1 over Nara.
