2014 WTA Sudden Death League: Roland Garros

Day 3: Venus Williams

I'm sorry that Venus lost - really inopportune double faults did not help- but the girl she played was a worthy winner. No grunting, no shouts of come-on etc, and amazing movement. If she can sort her rather weak second serve out, she has the ability to be a top player of the future. Very refreshing and a pleasure to watch.

We got Corneted.....:(

Cornet has broken back so time yet for her to win. That said, I'm relieved I changed my pick, although CSN looked shakey for a while. But then who expected it to be easy? Maybe Serena...... & that didn't end well :)

Omg I almost picked Venus, then saw it was a young gun. Then I almost went for panetta. I thought Flavia was a sure thing but I wanted to save her for later. I'm so glad I went with Dani! Now this is the WTA SDL I remember! It was getting too easy there...

Pannetta is 32 and was doing very poorly after IW, small chance against someone 6 years younger and in form

I just don't ever remember being impressed by Larsson, and I figured an Italian on clay was a no brainer. Probably people who picked Vinci thought the same thing :)

Oh come on Cornet. Nice comeback to almost take it , but losing to an 18yo at your home slam on clay?! Oh well, the WTA remains the same unpredictable game it's been for a while now
