You are right. Circumstances have played to his advantage.

That is the way it goes in sports sometimes. Federer, Nadal and Murray, his biggest rivals are dealing with issues, and it has played into Djokovic's hands. The right thing for him to do is take advantage of it as much as possible.

Can't blame him for doing that. Still it has to be borne in mind when the commies spout their hyperbole on Novak.

I have a feeling about Murray in this tournament.

I haven't given him a chance in the masters since his surgery but I think he has a shot at this.

It all depends on whether he meets Djokovic in the final.

I don't think Murray's even close. He's there with Bird and Nishi. They need to be absolutely on fire to even remotely hang with Djokovic. From what we've seen so far this year, Raonic is the only one apart from Fedal who's got a game that can challenge Djokovic.
Wawrinka, obviously, but he has proven so inconsistent it's difficult to have any expectations.

How do you work that one out? Raonic lost his only match this year v Djokovic at the AO in straight sets. In the AO final, Murray took Djokovic to 4 sets and missed opportunities to go up 2 sets and a break! Despite what just happened in IW, Murray is, in fact, the only player other than Federer who has seriously challenged Djokovic this year!

Djokovic seems pretty unstoppable atm unless your names Federer, in which case your the underdog with a realistic chance. I don't think Federer is in Miami is he?

Djokovic then.

I would love to see a Murray Nadal match. I'd put Nadal as the heavy favorite for it but it would be Murrays best chance at a Fedalovic win since https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DBCntSw5Lg

I should have expressed myself clearer. What I mean, is Raonic has the tools to beat Djokovic: Heavy serve, the ability to hit winners from his forehand side, a strong mentality. I seriously can't see these tools in Murray at the moment. He is too inconsistent, can't hit winners, weak 2nd serve and issues with his mentality. He obviously can beat Djokovic, but not at the moment, as I see it.

No. Federer said a while ago that he would be skipping Miami. Djokovic and Nadal are the top 2 seeds there this year.

Don't think I will ever tire of watching that one!

Yes, but we can only go on what has actually transpired so far, can't we and the fact remains that Murray pushed Djokovic much harder in the first GS of the year than Raonic managed to do!

I agree that Raonic certainly has potential though!

Totally agree with Raonic being the biggest threat outside of Fedal. Sorry, but Murray is no where near his top form (which sucks, I always root for him to win).

I quite like Raonic actually.

I also wish I could copy and paste his serve onto Murray!

Smooth from Sock. Didn't see it all but straight sets.

Almagro is one set to the good against Stakhovsky. I've seen the latter play rather better.
Let's hope he rally's and gives us a match.

Yeah. Stakhovsky takes the second set tiebreak. Makes a match of it.
He looks the stronger now.
Nice bit of serve volley, drop shots and slice:)

Just read that Hewitt is playing. I was seriously under the impression that he had already retired:confused: Not even joking

See this is the thing about tennis that makes me mad. I can't believe Steve Johnson is even ranked in the top 100 with how bad the guy is. He has been broken TWICE in the first set by Kukushkin.

then you seriously didn't follow the tennis news, Hewitt said two months ago he will retire after 2016 AO.

Think he's going to pretty much run IW, Grass Season and the US Series

Doubt he'll play on clay other than RG.

That's what a monster serve and FH will do for you on tour.
He also has 10 aces in this match and is up 5-2 in the second set.

Monster indeed

Apparently a serve ace from Johnson broke the court side TV screen. So the umpire is having to radio the Hawkeye results and announce them:)

Yeah I saw him playing a challenger a long time ago. Was watching because I bet on the match and remember thinking: "God this guy is so so bad. He looks like he'd be better off playing college football". Now he's suddenly top 100. Must be because of his serve mainly.
