Quite the see saw battle first game of second. Cuevas trying to hold.
LOL Tomic does not even know, but very happy to win and thought it might be record. Carlos said close to 20 deuces!

Last grinder til perhaps Ferrer.

Match point. And it's done.
I posted weeks ago saying Tomic should have skipped Stockholm and Valencia. lol. thanks for winning me $20 Cuevas and Tomic!

Granola trying to give Rublev lecture on facts of life on ATP tour:

But it's not working.. Rublev broken again.

And Rublev schools Granola in the first set. Finished in style with slam past the hapless Granola who is beginning to understand that the world is changing.

Getting ugly for Granola; Rublev breaks first game of second set!
Granola down a set and a break.

Granola won 19% of his second serve points, teaching everyone a lesson.

That's a very good win for Rublev, not one I saw coming, maybe his best this year on a court that's not perfect for his game.

Granollers a former Valencia champion dumped out in R1.

Rublev won the doubles at the Kremlin Cup with Tursanov. He may be ready to roll. I pulled back on picking him in the Power Play, but glad to see him breaking through. Fognini Zverev winner up next.

I see Ferrer withdrew. Ug, wish Tomic won his match. Would have been such a good opportunity. Didn't get to post last night as I was completing a 7000 word assignment due today. Hopefully he turns it round next week in Paris. He's currently 1 spot off being seeded thanks to the withdrawal of Raonic. Hopefully one more player withdraws.

My bad. RBA up next!

Wow. Watching Brands (against Montanes) and the guy is for real. Main thing I notice is he is super solid, never feels like he's going to miss or make unforced errors. He's smart and has plenty of power along with GREAT touch at the net.

Now I can see why he beat Kyrgios

Johnson has established ownership of F Lopez with 2nd straight win over Feliciano on hard courts.

RBA has beens schooling Rublev with well placed first serving and solid returning that has had Rublev under pressure the whole match. RBA has been able to dictate play with his great court coverage and solid groundies. RBA save 3 break points in the last game with Ace, run-around forehand down the line, and another near Ace. Finished off Rublev with lob. Rublev serving 2-6, 2-5

Daniel Brands is in the Quarters, I still think RBA, Johnson or Garcia Lopez can win the title...though without the Spanish Terrier the field is wide open.

Never seen Brands play, but based on head to head he could go all the way on this one. Brands, RBA, & Johnson seem to have the hot hand.
