Nishikori wastes both BP's with sloppy play.

Federer is starting to play a little sloppy himself, there's another BP.

That sets up nicely for the quality of tennis. J/k. How is he playing ?

Federer looks like have decided to play sticking to baseline for this tournament. Forehand as well as backhand holding well rallies - it's something never happened since racket switch. I think Federer should use his variety more. He is giving too much baseline rhythm to Kei who is striking the ball so well today.

Federer looks unfocused out there today. He probably feels that even if he loses in straights, he wins the group.

200 points at stake. Fed better focus. It takes going to a place like Istanbul or Brisbane and win 4 matches to get those many points.

Lol. See what I mean? It's never the other guy's good play when it's Federer. But when it's Nadal or Djokovic, it's a weak era, or the opponent is/was subpar, or tanking. ;)

P.S. that last game there, that was the same Nishikori that beat Djokovic at last year's USO. That was the Heat!

Nole made the H2H a liar stat in RR1 against Nishi. Fed not able to overcome H2H so far. Fedberg has not played Super Nishi before.

He probably wants to eliminate Novak from RR! ;)
Nishikori outplaying Federer from baseline quite comfortably. 4-3 with break.

That'd be sneaky! But i have a hard time imagining fed's team even contemplating this. Edberg for sure would not

Thing is, if Nishi wins today, there's a small chance Nishikori could WIN the group. That would mean Roger facing Nadal in the semis.

Nishikori should have been warned for the lack of effort against Djokovic. Completely different attitude compared to today's.

I don`t see Nishikori going through this group. The first match was poor from him but the most disappointing thing for him was not winning against Berdych in straight sets.Had he done that,he would have had the SF-qualification pretty much in his hands.

Federer concentrated for a couple of points there and he got the break back. Fed just doesn't respect Nishikori, he thought he could beat him with his C game.

Fed needs these points so he still has a chance to get the No 2 year end ranking. Not overly important, but would make a great statement
