Tomic's so crafty but his forehand bugs me. It's too slappy.

Tomic moves quite a bit better than he used to... still slow though.

Berdych is in sick form this AO... it's a problem.

Saw him GOAT against Gasquet and Seppi in Doha. Was surprised and then again not really that he lost the final against David - a final I did not watch.

And if he's facing Rafa in the next round...

Tomic is an improved player but is miles off being able to consistently compete with the top 10.

Tomic should go full junk mode, then maybe he can frazzle Birdboy's brain.

Tomic plays too ordinarily these days and has lost a lot of his old distinguishing features. There's no need for him to abandon his uniqueness, but rather he needs to learn to use it with his now somewhat improved mentality and fitness. Tomic will never be ane lite player by just streamlining with the tennis of everybody else... he hasn't got the athleticism for it.

Believe in the funky junk, punk.

I don't care about the birds, but continue to show that camera angle.

Even if Tomic showed 5x more dedication than Djokovic, he'd still lack the athleticism to really cut it at the very top. Maybe after all those top guys retire he could sneak a Slam final. Tomic is not even a second-rate athlete when it comes to speed and agility (though he is quite strong).

Movement is king.

It's hard for Tomic to consistently set up for strokes against a player of Berdych's class though. Look how abbreviated his stroke mechanics often have to be to just get a play on the rally...

Nick is the true saviour and Kokkinakis looks good too. Not sure on who will be better out of Kokk and Tomic but Kyrgios is going to splatter brains all over the tour.

But Nick has to prove he will not turn into a clown like monfils...I fear Nick's head is getting too big before any significant accomplishment...

Until he can find some way to improve his movement Tomic will never crack the ten.

That being said, he has 6 months and 0 points to defend, will likely be pushing for a Seed a Wimbledon

Tomic's movement is already so much better than it was, and I guess it can improve further but athletically he is terrible in terms of speed and agility. Most guys on this board (below 40) could probably run an equal or faster 40 metre sprint and a faster shuttle run... I'm being entirely serious.

I doubt it. I've seen Tomic play in person and he can hit a fast stride on his sprint, when the conditions are perfect. He's no Monfils, and he has massive problems with changing directions and the mentality of movement, but he would beat most people here handily.

Damn...i really thought Tomic could go deep this yr...will root for wawa & dimitrov then...
Fourth round equals his best at the AO and is only a round behind his all time best (QF at Wimbledon).

There is no real shame in losing to Berdych, but he is the type of player that Tomic will need to start beating if he ever wants to breach the top 15.
