He was absolutely robbed! Players shouldn't NEED challenges, that's what the linespeople and umpire are for. The linesperson missed the call AND Mohammed missed the call. Period.

If either one had done their job properly, the match would have been over. Now it is very likely that the kid will lose this match. A match that he ALREADY won. Very bad.

He was only a victim of that one bad call because of the 3 bad calls he made himself.

Monaco was robbed of his serve game the game before. So it all adds up.

If Monaco wins this match, it'll be one of the most controversial wins ever, I think, considering that the ball was out. The wider ramifications could see more challenges being permitted per player.

I actually want Monaco to win this now.

The challenge system in tennis is fairly dumb. There is no reason to not have hawkeye make all line calls on grass and hardcourt. It would make the game go much faster.

It is outrageous that major tournaments can be won and lost on bad calls when the technology already exists and is in place to solve the problem.

Wowow Kokkinakis gets called for a double bounce by Lahyani but on the replay he clearly got to it on one bounce. Lahyani has been way off his game this whole tournament tbh.

Nightmare situation for those who defend the challenge system. But sooner or later it was bound to happen. I can't see any way forward except using hawkeye on every controversial ball that lands near the line.

This type of situation with bad calls etc adds to the drama. It makes the match a better spectacle. Good for the game.

How true. In fact, the replay on match point had already shown the ball was out before the next point began anyway. In an ideal situation, the umpire would have had access to that replay feed and have been able to properly award the point (and the match).

Kokkinakis is a strong prospect...

Great match with Monaco. Dat MP though.

Both Monaco and Kokki have been screwed with line calls this match. I haven't seen a situation like Kokki's on match point in a while though. A real shame. Use challenges more wisely though! Meanwhile, Monaco up 6-5....

One that comes to mind is the 1998 Cincinnati final when Rafter beat Sampras. Sampras was incensed over an overrule on Rafter's championship point.

Exactly. To this day I don't understand why this system should be used to punish or reward players for their eyesight. Having a good eyesight is not a tennis-related requirement. It should be a neutral decision.

Such composure to wait for that ball and put it away with the forehand behind Monaco. Patience.

Well done Kokki.

YES GET IN THERE!!!

He's got bags of potential, 4th round = ranking points ;)
