But Federer is such a tough match-up for Djokovic, he can beat him anywhere.
I can see him doing the same thing on Sunday. :(

If he gets Raonic tomorrow, he can probably go all the way and win.

If he gets Rafa, it will probably go 3 and even if he wins, it will be difficult in the finals.

With Raonic, even with 3 sets, it will be a fast match.

Indeed.

It used to be very frustrating to watch Bird slapping Federer on regular basis during 2010-11 period all because of **** Annacone tactics and his stubbornness in updating himself.

.

Berd could still "slap" Fed at USO. It's more an issue of surface, IW is too high bouncing for his game. That's why he never made a final there and reached quarter or better only twice.

Just checked the score and lol.

So yeah, Fed's doing terribly now he's playing day matches.

Come on Rafa, do your job today and then we'll have some fun.

And we're still only in March!

Well lets see if we can follow this...

Berdych bagels Nadal...Murray bagels Berdych...Djokovic bagels Wawrinka, Murray and Berdych...Federer bagels Berdych

Djokovic tops the list at giving bagels
Berdych tops the list at swallowing bagels
Nadal probably in worst place, getting bagelled by the guy who himself has been bagelled by three different players across three continents

However Rosol and Kyrgios can slap Rafa on EVERY surface.

Just like how Fed bagelled Rafa on every surface.

The way Berd matches against Fed has nothing to do with what happens against anyone else.
People really have to stop confusing match-up issues with overall achievements.

Some people should stop feeling butthurt about Fed's achievements.
I know it hurts to get bagelled in a big stage by your Pigeon!!

Berdych absolutely owns Federer. I think the reason for this is unlike other big hitters, Federer's strategic niceness hasn't caused him to take it easy on Federer. Whereas other guys who could bully Federer around the court and blow away his soft shots feel bad about it and take it easy on him, costing them the matches, Berdych is immune to that. He goes out there and makes Federer look like a child.

Federer definitely got owned today... Berdych made him look like a child as you say.

Rosol "slapped" Rafa once. Even on grass, he couldn't do it last year, much less on another surface (lost to Rafa in straights in Doha).
KG, how would you know? Given they've only met once...

I agree. But the extra day off and lack of matches may through Novak off. The way this tournament has played out it anything other than ideal in terms of giving the best players the best shot at winning.

Rafa is lucky to avoid Kyrgios here because of Dmitrov. Don't worry. It will happen soon.

Rosol had set points to go up 2 sets to love on Nadal last year at Wimbledon. He's still got the bull by the horns at times on grass. Don't go acting like Nadal had an easy go of it. Nadal was lucky to escape a second thrashing against Rosol.

When Federer does well in Dubai, IW, he always does well in Wimbledon.

Never said it was easy but Nadal is 2-1 vs Rosol so the argument he would "own" Rafa on any surface doesn't hold.

Everytime I see Nadal play Rosol, I see a look of worry on Rafa's face. I've never seen that look from him even when he's playing Djokovic. So strange. He was about to cry in that Wimbledon rematch for the first 2 sets until he got that lucky escape and allowed Rosol to implode as he tends to do.

I thought I saw the same look on Federer's face and body language with the match against Seppi the other day....

Yep. I agree. I had doubts before but I think it starts to work.

But I still think he retrieves to baseline if match gets tight. That is still a stubborn issue against Djokovic, Nadal and Murray( in form ).

I agree. The new aggressive approach has definitely benefitted him against Berdych and similar players.

I'm not quite ready to suggest it has turned the Murray matchup significantly. Overall, the change has helped Federer across the board, but Murray is still capable of top-level defending, which will sometimes result in Federer staying on the baseline more and more as the match progresses.

I'd still favor Federer over anyone other than Djokovic, Murray, and Nadal. I like his chances against Murray on any surface, but it's a 50/50 matchup. I like his chances on grass against anyone, including Djokovic and Nadal. But again, they're tight matchups, so there's no real upset regarding either outcome. I would actually consider the Djokovic matchup a toss-up on any surface in non-majors, but I think the 5-set format in slams makes Djokovic a favorite on anything but grass. Nadal just has his number, so unless it's on a surface that significantly favors Federer, like grass or indoor hard courts, a win is more surprising.

What happened to Berdych? I wasn't paying attention due to work, and then I looked up and it was a bagel. Was he sick or something?

Nadal at the moment can't touch any of the Top anymore. It's excruciating watching him play. It's like he's de-toothed and has no more weapons.

Federer on the other hand is totally destroying and seems like maturing into his 33 yro body. His overall game is solid and power is still there even if he's not as quick as before.

No, it's never that simple. Nobody at that level is a bagel better than anybody else.

Depends a bit. Sometimes someone is playing so well.the other guy does give the fight. Sometimes maybe every game is close but one player just edges every game.
