I don't agree at all. I've seen Nadal do this before. It's not 2013, but Rafa does everything the hard way. I don't see him getting through Fed and Novak, but I think he can take care of Raonic. All he has to do is hammer his backhand, which he can do by driving to his forehand, wide.

Biggest weakness right now is his serve timing. He's now trying to do his twitchy face-butt thing while bouncing the ball with his racket, then limit the hand-bounce to about 4 bounces. This is cutting down on time, but it's throwing his OCD into semi-panic. It will take him months to develop a new routine and get OK with it.

Take that post with a pinch of salt. He was after all responding to WhiskeyEE.

He is not fully montenegrin. They guy was raised in Canadia and their culture. I think he sees himself as Canadian, otherwise he wouldn't play for them. You can say he is both Canadian and Montenegrin, half half.

Nope. He plays for Canada because there is more money in representing Canada (Montenegro has 600k citizens and a small diaspora). He's a sell out.

By that logic dentists are sell outs because they aren't anthropologists.

If Nadal gets by Raonic, I doubt Federer will beat him on this slow, high-bouncing court. Nadal has the advantage on this surface.

Re Nadal adjusting his routines, I don't think they have the bearing you think they do on his game. Nadal's added/adjusted a lot of his routines through out the years without it influencing the way he plays.

The nationalism present here borders that of the gunslinging hemhawwing rednecks.

I don't care where you were born. Milos says he is Canadian and he plays on the Canadian DC team.

Rusedski claims to be British and iirc represented Britain in Davis Cup. Davis Cup is a gong show. Milos could probably represent Tonga if he wanted to.

John's parents are American and John is an American name. It's different, but it's a bit grey I agree.

All this nationalist stuff is rubbish. Goodness knows what you think of Mary Pierce, born in Canada to an American father and a French mother, a citizen of Canada, the USA and France, while representing France in tennis.

The reality is that we're all citizens of planet Earth, and we're all immigrants depending on how far back you go. That's particularly true of most people in countries like Canada and the USA, the descendents of European (mostly British) colonists.

Rusedski and Pierce are both idiots.

And I don't care about nationalism. I don't cheer for Canada during Davis Cup and couldn't care less about Pospisil, etc. I am just being factually accurate.

Rusedski and Pierce are both idiots.

Total twats for sure, Rusedski has always been a Smug twat similar to Courier
hate to see them both together in commentary!!

Simon is 14th in the world?

Man oh man.

Tomic can be top 10 then a much better pusher

Oh darn it, I just imagined Simon vs Tomic please save me!

Worse of all combine would be

Simon vs Tomic and Courier and Rusedski commentating FFS!

Nadal's lives and dies by that OCD. He doesn't change his routines, they just get more intense. Who am I'm to say though, the routines seems to be working pretty well dang well.

One might say that given Nadal has increased his routines, he's also changed his routines.

I think his routines play a part in how he prepares his service/return games, but they don't actually influence him once the ball is in play.

Really?.....Even Nadal said he only had a chance of winning 1 or 2 matches at the AO.
The fact he made the QF was an unexpected bonus in his comeback.

LMAO.

You fully expected him to win and even bet your life savings on it (or so you say).

So will he win this too?

Whiskey, weren't you saying yesterday that Simon was going to take Nadal to the cleaners? What happened?

"No doubt in my mind that Simon will beat Nadal."

his mind was damaged prior to this match, tried to nudge him into a healthier direction earlier

I'm just not going to make any big predictions for this tournament. It's too much up and down. By what I saw last night Novak should have lost. But he was playing great tonight. Isner was actually playing very well. At 3/3 in the first set Novak played one of the best games I've ever seen by anyone.

It's all about who gets hot, or stays hot.

Courier never talks about his time when he just checked out of the game:)

wasn't tough enough to handle my tweet to him about him doing that while talking @tennischannel...while he was talking reading on the changeover by Pete at final Wimbledon and Nadal yesterday

nod of tennis knowledge if you know the book Courier was reading (I didn't) without googling...Pete was reading his wife's letter, Nadal had instructions on how to play..."position"..."calm"

I don't think I'll be having a favourite player after Nadal retires. Nobody that I can currently see, anyway.
It seems like the new "tennis wave" will be Australian. So many promising young players there. I'm warming up to KG. Pretty entertaining to watch. Lots of talent. He would have beaten Dimi without the injury.
