Just catching this match. Wow, Ram takes first set TB. 1-1 in the second. Why don't we hear more about Rajeev? I've seen him in challengers and now this 250 tourney but never hear or see many other results.
Ram likes playing in Newport, but the biggest reason is Newport is just a run down weak tournament. Every year, you see low ranked players making "breakthroughs", but its best not to buy into it. Ram is not talked about that much because he really isn't that good.

He looks better than #141. But even bigger question: How is Ivo ranked lower than Isner? Serve seems as good, and better hands.

Ram is ranked at 161st in the world....I'm guessing he'll be nearing the top 100 by Monday.

Ram should play like this more often. Real talent!!
He does try to play like this often, but he can't . The fact is, he has found his niche on the Newport grass courts. I have watched him play a few times on hardcourts and the dude is a mediocre athlete. Grass is the perfect surface for him as it masks a lot of his weaknesses.

In addition to having the same serve motion as Sampras, he must be using a similar razor as Pete too:

Rampaging Rampras shows the giants how it is done. Why can't this dude put together a Wimbledon run? Does he not make it through qualifying or something?

Great job by Ram, but you gotta feel for the guy. His style would have worked much better in the 90s.

Slowing the courts down really screwed the guys like him. I bet he is kinda bitter about it.

As big of a Ram fan as I am, this is it right here. He's got a great serve and very good volleys, his entire game is pretty much a tribute to Sampras but he just doesn't have the elite athleticism that Pete possessed. He probably would have been a solid top 50 players in the 90's though.

I do believe in a year or two Ram may call it quits in singles and focus on doubles, I think he could have a nice second act to his career if he focused on doubles.

2nd title... rampras is the king of newport ! ;)
(what does he say about the similarity of some of his strokes with sampras', by the way ?)

he saved MP in 2 matches this week (isner, karlovic)... who was the last player to win a tournament like that ? tsonga, marseille 2013 (tomic, berdych), maybe ?

And he's automatically in USO. Cutoff is 90 this year.

Ram was the biggest mover up the ranks this past week vaulting 75 positions to No. 86 in the ATP points ranking. Good for him!
