If SAF want to win this tournament their only hope is for AB to open the batting-their bowlers finally fired for the first time yesterday but he ran out of partners because he is coming in at 5. DeKock is not in form & should probably be dropped. McCullum opens for NZ & blasts them into winning positions or chases down scores with his strike rate-AB has the same talent & has done it in this tournament, so why isn't he opening, or at least coming in at 3?

i think they keep ab down there because he is such a good closer of the innings. maybe he wouldnt be as effective if he batted up the order. i would try it myself though....

sangakkara is one of my all time favourite cricketers.

in the top couple of players of this era, and not slowing down.

They made the same mistake with Klusener in 1999-he won so many games for them at that tournament coming in low down the order & making incredibly fast knocks, but in the semi final it backfired as he came in at 8 chasing a small total-blitzed away while wickets fell, then it ended up tied & they went out on count back.

Remember him sledging Atherton in 2001 & everybody being amazed that he would have the balls to insult a 12 year international player being so new. Now he has been playing at that level 3 years longer than Atherton-time flies.

that was so good, i remember watching here on tv and you could hear every word, not so cocky now etc, loved it...

Doubt Atherton was ever cocky in his life. That series was very bad tempered because of the awful umpiring in the first two tests & the British journalists being banished from one of the tests.

What a result and another exciting game. England deservedly go home. Cheerio.

Good for the tournament and good for cricket.

thinking back now i think it was against south africa when they turned the stump mic up and we heard everything sangakkara was saying.

So England win their last match, well done.

Ireland have to beat Pakistan (or draw) to qualify. The biggest game in Irish cricket history. Can they repeat the St. Patrick'sday heroics of 2007?

Then the fun really gets started with the knockouts.

Not necessarily-they can lose to Pakistan & still qualify if the UAE beat the Windies or the game gets rained off.

Yes. Think we can rule out a UAE win. There is supposed to be some rain in Napier for the WI but expected to clear for match.

We are set.

Wednesday 18th March 2015
South Africa v Sri Lanka Sydney 03:30

Thursday 19th March 2015
Bangladesh v India Melbourne 03:30

Friday 20th March 2015
Australia v Pakistan Adelaide 03:30

Saturday 21st March 2015
New Zealand v West Indies Wellington 01:00

Tipping South Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand to all advance to the semis.

Wouldn't be shocked if the Windies play out of their minds and Sri Lanka beats South Africa. Would love to see Bangladesh continue their great run but I think their luck will run out and they won't repeat what they did in 2007 against India.

All going to form so far. But though Aussies were in trouble earlier. Dropped catch(es) could have been massive.

Great SFs in store.

NZ v SA Tues
Ind v Aus Thurs

Woohoo amazing batting in this NZ-WI match. Guptill GOATed his way to a double century. Gayle can hardly run but just whacking it out of the park all the same...

Yeah amazing knock. Not bad by Gayle Force either.

The 4 best teams for sure, seen alot of India v Australia lately so the first semi appeals to me more.

Personally i'm hoping for a repeat of the New Zealand and Australia game from earlier in the tournament as the final, hopefully with the same ending and outcome ;)

Yes,I hope so too. Although I think Australia would be the big favourites at the MCG,since most of the NZ team have never played there in an international.

Oh absolutely, that Australian bowling attack with Johnson and Starc is pretty much unplayable. Even after they had a rare poor game with the bat, the bowlers still nearly won it for them. Australia will probably win the final against whoever they play, but as a neutral i've got to support the underdog :)

I'll be rooting for SA or NZ, always good to see a first time champion.

Would be nice to see SA shed that underachievers/chokers tag.

But yeah NZ 1st, a small county like that isn't going to have many better chances.

Wanting India to win.

But will get beat by Australia unfortunately. Even if we win, New Zealand will be a tough task, they will just bat you out.

south africa are favourites for the game tomorrow, its surprising given new zealands form.

i actually agree with the bookies... think new zealand will be in for a rude shock.

Didn't realise Martin Crowe has terminal cancer-it would be a great thing for NZ to win this tournament in honour of their greatest ever batsman & second greatest player.

Wow,great batting performance from South Africa in a rain affected match,281-5 from 43 overs. Will be a very tough run chase for NZ,I hope they can pull it off but it won't be easy, that's for sure...

Yeah,it's a pity about Crowe. Nice that he is acting as a mentor for a couple of players in the NZ side...

Good win by Australia last night. Good bowling. Smith will need some support in the final. He can't do it all on his own.

On their home pitch, Australia is favourite for the final.

Yeah, great to have the two host nations in the final.

The MCG will be a great venue for it.

Not looking good for NZ at the moment. Everyone was saying they should bat first, put the pressure back on Australia. Right now,it looks the opposite. Pressure on NZ's middle order 41/3 off 13...
