The deciding point certainly made added a bit of drama at 4-5 deuce on court 1 there...

Harris looking the better player but just tightening up that little bit...

Shame that Harris & Lenz didn't get to finish out. Harris looked genuinely disgusted he wasn't getting to finish.

I would ignore live scoring. It's not even in the same universe. It says Oosterbaan won the first set 6-4 but in actuality Crystal leads the match 6-2 3-0

USC too strong and Too good for Georgia. Does Oklahoma have any chance of giving any match to USA tomorrow ?? looks like another 5 peat NCAA win for USC this year in may. Unless the Cardinal can upset them which can happen with them improving so fast this year.................

Looks like a rematch of last years NCAA final where Oklahoma took doubles but USC clinched with 3-set victory by Max de Vroome over Andrew Harris at #4 singles.

Doubles (Order of finish: 3,2)
1. #1 Yannick Hanfmann/Ray Sarmiento (USC) vs. Axel Alvarez/Dane Webb (OKLAHOMA) 5-6, unf.
2. Guillermo Alcorta/Andrew Harris (OKLAHOMA) def. Connor Farren/Roberto Quiroz (USC), 8-5
3. Alex Ghilea/Nick Papac (OKLAHOMA) def. Max de Vroome/Eric Johnson (USC), 8-7(2)

Singles (Order of finish: 3,1,2,5,4)
1. #10 Yannick Hanfmann (USC) def. #5 Guillermo Alcorta (OKLAHOMA), 7-5, 6-2
2. #9 Ray Sarmiento (USC) def. #7 Axel Alvarez (OKLAHOMA), 6-4, 7-6(4)
3. #41 Dane Webb (OKLAHOMA) def. #42 Roberto Quiroz (USC), 6-1, 6-2
4. #91 Max de Vroome (USC) def. #53 Andrew Harris (OKLAHOMA), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
5. Eric Johnson (USC) def. Austin Siegel (OKLAHOMA), 6-1, 7-6(2)
6. Michael Grant (USC) vs. Alex Ghilea (OKLAHOMA), 7-6(5), 2-6, 4-2, unf.

Interesting quote from John Roddick about his team last year after the NCAA championships. Wonder how he would characterize the #5/#6 players on this team? It seems that Alex Ghilea is undefeated in this years ITA indoors.

"If you look back on our season, at the beginning, we were very top heavy, with four guys playing really well. Our five and six were really not very good in February. We were able to win a lot of matches anyway, but I think those guys really pulling together, our top guys leading those guys in getting better, and all of the sudden you have a complete team. This is the first time we had a very complete team. There were some hard days in practice and some very direct conversations, and for those guys to be able to handle those, and to come out of them and get better, I think that's what we're most proud of."

That is true. Last year Oklahoma struggled at 5 and 6 for much of the year before the emergence of Ghilea. They were trying combinations of Siegel, Papac and Siributwong all of whom were losing regularly vs all kinds of competition. Ghilea and Salazar are a lot stronger than those from last year

Interesting twitter from Jonathan Kelley. Wonder if this was said by one of Pasha's teammates that is not in the starting line-up or one of the starters that lost in straight sets?

"You know he's not clutch, c'mon Nate!" - one of Pasha's teammates, about Wang, right near Wang

LOL... that is not a bad thing, actually kind of classy. He could have said " You know this guy is a loser, he chokes if it gets close every time,,,,,,Cmon Nate"................................. I heard that before from another college dude...........LOL

Jonathan told me that too after the match - it wasn't a starter doing the chirping.

OKlahoma's depth is much better than last year. Ghilea has improved and the Freshman Papa is starting to figure things out. Salazar is a huge improvement at 6. Oklahoma needs to find a way to win the doubles point. They have been having a hard time getting it all year and so far it hasn't cost them but eventually they will need it.

Should be interesting. USC is awful tough and everyone has picked against Oklahoma. They are probably playing with a chip on their shoulder as they are one of the least respected 2 seeds and prior year runner up teams that only got better.

With that said, USC probably wins.

WHY are they using NO ad scoring for Singles ?? that is so bad and it makes the serve break lucky sometimes.... that is a bad idea by ITA or NCAA.

1. #9 Nicolas Alvarez (DU) def. #18 Cameron Norrie (TCU) 4-6, 7-5, 6-3

I'm pretty sure Pasha wouldn't have condone that crap... he's a well mannered young man ,most top players respect each other and any of the coaches heard it they would have shut that b!tch up... watching online,it looked like a heck of a battle 3-3 in the third ,it could have gone either way ...

What did you make of your boy Winston Nishikori getting worked by the next Peter Schmeichel?

Yes I saw but that match don't count. Winston was dead dead tired from tough 3 setter yesterday with Cal. and emotional 4-3 team victory ONLY made possible by Winston......

So today's match don't count and didn't happen.

Oh please. Did you see Pasha giving it to the Illinois fans after he clinched the match vs them? I hardly think he is "above" such behavior. What was said by the Georgia player was an attempt to get into Wang's head, nothing really that harmful, sometimes it's a mind game out there.

short wrapup before the final

Surprise team:
Baylor, almost in finals, no one really saw this
Bad surprise team:
TCU..also it maybe is not fair, but they lost all matches and mostly not had chances, also they had their hands on duke
UNC i thought are much deeper and closer to the Top5 teams
UCLA this team is much lower everyone expected at start of season

USC and Oklahoma seems to be the clear early ncaa favourits (also this is indoors)
Baylor very good here, beating a good duke team easily , winning over favs and top5-team UVA
UGA, did all they could, showed toughness but also had luck vs Columbia and also vs Illinois, clear SEC-favourite

Illinois, great tournament for them, should ve beaten UGA, swept Cal, and routed OSU in singles, very impressive team from 1 to 5 only weakness is #6
Ohio State, maybe is overrated, chanceless vs usc and also vs illinois in singles, just overcame Texas; team is solid on every spot and also doubles, but this year little talent is missing (maybe should put Diaz lower in lineup)
UNC looked not very solid in this one, maybe injuries play a role
UVA...close loss in quarters, shut out UNC and TCU which is not easy, clear ACC-favourite
Duke had a good tournament, maybe they had the wrong opponents, Ole Miss and TCU are both not Top10-style, Duke should be very close to the Top5, will battle with UNC for ACC-runner-up
Ole Miss, played everything tough, but still lost every doubles point..will need to change this or they will only be 4th or 5th best sec-team, good win vs UCLA
Texas, very close loss vs OSU and easy wins after it, good tournament for a solid Top10 team
Columbia, great win vs Cal, and very close loss vs UGA, could be easy Top10 but their schedule now will hurt them..have NO Top20 team anymore on their schedule....
Cal Bears, this team is barely Top15...if...lucky to survive Penn State, Göransson got a nice win over Stakhovsky yesterday, solid team on every position, scheduling will hurt them
UCLA; well they need to figure things out or they are not even a Top10 team, also they ve top-heavy talent in it with MacDonald.
Penn State, did not belong in this tournament, ...shut out by Texas and USC, and losing to Cal...solid Top25 or Top30 team but nothing more.

13th place: UCLA vs Cal

Comparing tournament seeds to performance, it seems that Baylor most overperformed (seeded 10 and performed 3/4) and Duke most underperformed (seeded 6 and performed 9/10).

I want Oklahoma to lose. Not just because they are OU but because of how they snaked their way into getting Spencer Papa. He should be playing for Tulsa right now. It still makes me furious to think about.

Admit it, if it was Texas, you wouldn't mind and you really want OU to lose because it is OU. :)
