explain what happened with spencer papa. i know he committed to tulsa at one point, but don't know what OU did to get him to decommit.

If OU were to win it now, it would have to come from 5 or 6. Harris is showing a lot of gut and determination, but beating an experience and talented Hanfmann with one bad ankle is just next to impossible.

The kid has shown that he can definitely hang with big time college no.1 though, and that our top 3 is as good as anybody in the country.

Seems as though I remember Andrew Harris having some physical difficulties in his match with Max de Vroome last year. Four days in a row for this tournament though to include Scholtz, Schnurr, Lenz, and Hanfmann.

Wow and Ole Miss was just a MP away from possibly pulling off an upset. Kallberg had MP in tiebreaker that would have at least allowed Lindmark and Gowda a chance.

It is a one set match for either Ghilea or Salazar. Ghilea is a better hope. This does show Oklahoma belongs as many questioned that... myself included and I am the only person to vote for Oklahoma on the poll on this thread.

And now Harris is trying to prove me wrong, by limping his way back in serve in the 3rd.

OU wins 4-2. That is the biggest win in the history of their program. They are like Oregon in football (sans the awful uniforms). They are totally 'new money' but give them credit; they are doing the most with it.

Sooners win it. but this is Indoors. in NCAA championships outdoors, they will be upset by Stanford.

So OU wins a Championship and even Roddick admits that indoors is their weakest setting. Then bring on Stanford. I think the Mo is with the Sooners.

Only a couple teams over the past five years have won ITA Indoors and NCAAs in the same year.

2014 Ohio State
2013 Virginia*
2012 Southern California*
2011 Virginia
2010 Virginia
* - Won NCAA title same year

It would be tough for any team. It wasn't like Oklahoma was stomping them on all the courts.

It was very close and it probably came down to the USC doubles choke. Oklahoma definitely came out looking like they had something to prove. I would suspect OU, USC, UVA and Baylor will all be there at the end and any could win it. I'd still bet on USC but they can be beaten. OU made it to the finals last year and got better. Kudos to them.

Losing that doubles point after a big lead with tons of chances must have messed with USC mental going into singles.

OU let USC off the hook last year at the end of the year after they had a 2-0 lead but not this time. Sooners were clutch. By the end of the year Papa and Salazar should be hitting on all cylinders too.

well it is a)indoor sand b) ncaas outdoors, but does not matter too much
they won every match here in convincing style but final vs USC was 4-2 after winning a doubles they never should win , match was very close
semis vs Baylor was also 4-2, needing 3-set-wins from Ghilea and Papa, oklahoma was better in the end, but it was also very close
vs UNC 4-1 they were just the better team
vs Ole Miss 4-1 match was much closer as score indicates
Papa saved MP vs Kallberg, could have been 3-2, with Salazar and Alvarez tied in 3rd sets. Oklahoma was better as a whole..but also close (and Ole Miss is not a Top5 or even Top8 team)
Oklahoma not played vs teams like Illinois and Uga...no one knows...

funny that Harris was only 1-1 in this tournament, could not play out vs Lenz and Hanfmann with match tied in 3rd.

I was talking to an Ohio State fan at the NTIs and he said Yannick Hanfmann was originally coming to Ohio State but he decided at the last minute to go to USC.

It would have been interesting to have seen him at Ohio State with Rola, Kobelt, and Buchanan.

As a freshman, Yannick clinched the ITA Indoors championship over Ohio State at #5 singles. Robert Quiroz did not play #6 singles that day for some reason.

"Robert Quiroz did not play #6 singles that day for some reason." Maybe Coach Smith pulled Quiroz because he was pummeled by Pasha the day before and was lifeless in his performance?
