Has anybody else noticed the New Balance Shoes have gotten shorter and more narrow? I need help finding a shoe that fits comfortably. I have wide forefoot and toes (12.5 2E in most New Balance) and a narrow heel. My feet are like scuba flippers
I am coming from MC 696 v1, size 12.5 EE, and even though they are a cheaper model of shoe lacking in durability, They fit my foot perfectly, I love the low-to-the-ground feel and never had complaints, even after long matches. I have just worn through my 2nd pair, so shopping for new shoes. I have had NB running shoes for the past ten years, and can even comfortably wear a 12.5 or 13D in some models. I went to the New Balance store-they didn't carry the MC 696 and tried on the 806 and the 996 in the 12.5D & E and 13D, and I couldn't even get my foot in the 12.5, without scrunching up my toes--They were so short! I tried on a 13D and both shoes were so snug it was like trying to squeeze into an Adidas shoe. The guys in the store wanted me to go ahead and order the 996 13EE, but I am hesitant, becuase it may be too narrrow, and I've been reading reviews that these newer models have poor durability. So, I hate to pay over $100 for a shoe that won't last as long as my $60 shoe.
Can anyone compare the fit and quality of MC696v2 to the version 1? If they are similar fit and quality I will just order the same size I've worn te past year and call it a day.
I would appreciate any recommendations on another shoe that fits a fairly wide forefoot and toes. Price doesn't matter.
