Daveeeed in 2 or 3, Daveeeed will keep the rallies long so sir johns serves will get taxed.

Daveeed perfers to hit inside out forehands and will hit plenty to the backhand side.

Cheers

Tipsa...likematch! I see.

Federer had gotten by Isner in the past, but could not handle him today. I believe the gritty courts in Paris helped Isner's kick serve and generally slowed the surface enough that Isner could grind a little bit in rallies with Federer. Might have seen this coming since Isner bested Federer in Davis Cup on clay (June 2012), his only previous Fed win and right before Fed won his last slam at Wimbledon.

Ferrer has a similar edge over Isner, but the one Isner win was right here in Paris 2012. Ferrer did not do well with Dimitrov first serve and I can't imagine him fairing better with Isner. Against Dimi he tore up the second, but Isner's kicker on these gritty courts may be a tall order for the short Ferrer. Given the shoulder issues that can't be good. Isner will get some looks at breaks if Ferrer does not serve well. With the odds, the betting on Matchstat is overwhelmingly for Isner (given the odds.) Isner in 2.

I'll pick Ferrer because Isner seldom plays at yesterday's peak level two matches in a row. My pick is based on this.

I still say that Isner can beat anyone in the world when he gets hot.

Great post.

It also depends a lot on whether Isner shows up mentally after such a big win yesterday

Isner's only win against Ferrer came in Paris in 2011. The guy likes to sneak wins indoors.
Ferrer should be favored because Isner is unlikely to repeat the upset.

Ferrer already breaks him...

That's the last thing Isner needs. Ferrer is hard enough to beat with the lead let alone being down already so early.

Although we often see break backs early in the 1st

Not seeing Isner outgrinding Ferrer in his own service game. Ferrer has strangle hold on this set.

Ferrer to win this is two easy ones. He will make Isner earn every single point he gets, no free ones. Double break both sets.

Ferrer handles the slow courts much better than Fed. If he can get serves back he'll keep the ball in play and force John to make shots... Eventually wear him down. John was returning well yesterday though and with his serve you can never count him out. Slow courts help him too.

Ferrer has been getting a racket on a lot of them, so advantage Ferrer.
I just started watching the match and only two ace? Ferrer returning so good?
Im not big server fan, but my exception is Isner(and some retired players). Hope he gets this, but doesn't look look if Ferrer can return it so well.

They have to be quicker on these challenges. Not just that one which was ridiculous. I've seen some other real late challenges the last couple of weeks.

Isner was just more inspired yesterday. That's why you see these upsets, and then flops after they get pulled off.
