Do you know when is going to start the final on sunday?? 5 pm NY time maybe?

The "superclasico" River vs Boca (I think you heard it at least once?) will start at 5pm (NY time)
we still dont know sorry
I heard about this clasico, just borrow an extra computer so you can watch both matches at the same time

I think(and hope) that the court speed of the US Open will be slightly too fast for Stan to win this. Add that to the redicilous level Roger is at right now, and this should be a fairly rutine match for him. Stanimal is looking better and better every match though, so Roger's definitely gonna have to keep up his level. If not, Stanimal will be there like a hungry lion at night, ready to slay him.

Dunno what it is, but once Murray lost I started thinking Stan has a pretty good chance to reach the final. Think Roger will win, but won't be too disappointed if Stan managed to take this one.

There are already three threads about this match.
I am afraid Stan might win this match. He is only guy who makes Big 4 as a spectator on other side when he is on.
It can be like WTF Semis but Fed won't have enough left in the tank if it goes longer. Most points will be BH to BH slice then Stan's Big FH.
Let's see which Stan shows up. Otherwise, Fed will win in 3

As much as I would like to see Fed win, Stan has this locked in. That BH is a canon and Fed can't stand up to that. Even if Federer won, he's not going to get past Djokovic in the final. I don't want a repeat of Wimby '15, I would prefer a repeat of RG '15.

Don't know which thread is gonna be used so I'll post the same thing in both.

Always go with a rested Fed on fast court against Stan. So Roger in 4. Whoever wins I don't mind too much. 2 of my favourite players.

If Fed going to lose to Djokovic, I rather Wawrinka take it.

Federer in 4, and in the hopes the 4 times runner up shows up than the 2011 Champion for the final.

Don't be so sure. Joker will be the favorite but he has looked vulnerable.

Stan is far from a guarantee to beat the Djoker should they meet, which seems to be a new myth that has enveloped in people since the RG final. Remember last time they played Stan only got 5 games, and even in slams he has a decisive losing record to the Djoker, even if nearly every match is tough.

Hard to tell, as you never know which Wawrinka version will come out. So far he didn't show his best version, but against Anderson he looked rock solid. So, Stanimal could be around the corner. If that happens, Wawrinka can will win it in 4 or 5.

If not, Federer in 4 would be the most logical prediction.

So far, Stan was able to beat Roger only on clay. This might change, but I want to believe that he won't beat Fed twice in a row in grand slam matches.

I will go with Fed in 4.

Federer in 4 sets. Faster conditions suit Roger much better than they do Wawrinka. All 3 of Wawa's wins over Fed have come on Clay. Sure many people know that Wawrinka plays best when he has more time to set up his big groundstrokes.

Hmm. But Djokovic would prefer Roger rather than facing Stan. First of all, Stan won't be getting through Fed unless Stan's level is high. When his level is high, Djokovic will have serious trouble in the Final. Since AO 2013, their matches has always gone the distance in BO5. Finally his break through came at AO last year. RG victory over Fed and Djoker will give him confidence as well. Then USO is not fast as Cincy and it is not BO3 either. Considering all these factors, it won't be a surprise if Stan conquers Nole with bit of a luck. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. :)

I guess Djokovic would prefer facing Federer, but on this court it wouldn't be by much. One thing for sure, there seems to be an urban legend of Stan having an edge in his match up with Djokovic in general since RG, which is not the case.

Swiss v Swiss, battle of the swiss, actually either one can win, if stanimal brings his full game he'll win, if not Frederer.

What happened to all that said anderson would take wawrinkles out ?

Cheers

Very surprised at the responses so far. I'm going with Wawrinka in 4.

It'd be pretty awesome if for a second year running, both of the top seeds were knocked out of the tournament.

I think whoever takes out a top 3 hackers has less in reserve mentally and physically
they tire you out mentally and physically more than beating Fed

This is what happened to Fed against Muzzochist
Anderson vs Muzzochist
anyone esp Nishikori vs Nole in last USO
anyone vs Nadal at his best in the past

very few occasions that we have seen these guys win in 5 then win the final
1. Nole, 2. Nadal and Wawa have and I dont think Fed or Muzzochist have?

Therefore......due to the basic laws of energy spent both mentally and physically

most should expect who ever wins the Fed vs Wawa match to be just enough
down on energy reserves to be fresh and firing for best of 5 title match facing Nole.
Esp Fed at his age or Stan has only done it once after a semi win in 5

If Fed wins in 4 tough sets he is gassed for the final
If Stan wins in 5 tough sets he is also a goner

The only hope is if Cilic presents a big challenge to Nole

It would be a first but if he serves good which is rare unless he does what he did last year
he has a chance to put Nole in some predicament, however Cilic needs his A game as he
only managed one set of Nole in a Slam in best of 5.

Im hoping Fed can win easily against Stan as Nole most likely will against Cilic
but I think Stan will bring his A game, he will make Roger miss out once again
even if Fed wins or loses as Stan is no walkover at this stage in a slam.

Stan in 4 is perfectly possible, the night conditions should negate some of the court speed and make Stan more dangerous for Fed.
What time a day is the final played? I've forgotten.

Novak will be fresh as a daisy no matter the Cilic match (which I really doubt will be a long 5-setter).

Fed-Stan could be physically brutal and kill them both. Hoping for a quick, but competitive and entertaining match.
Funday Sunday I believe.
I know it's Sunday, but afternoon or evening?

Fed in 4
First time match in a slam semi final
My instinct says Wawa has a great shot at this evening match in what will be relatively cool conditions. This will slow things down some which will help Stan a lot, especially with his backhand. I think the ATP Finals semi at the O2 arena shows what might happen. The courts will be slower than we've seen on Friday due to temp, but they won't be that different from 02 arena. Fed is arguably playing better than at the O2, so it seems Wawrinka is sure to lose again. Fed in 4.

According to the TV schedule page on the US Open website, the final starts at 4 p.m.

I strongly believe that playing in the day favors Wawrinka and playing in the evening favors Federer. The ball flying fast through the air and the court playing like a fast court aren't the same thing as each other. If anything, they're inversely correlated.
