But I think a lot of people are expecting Halep to win that match against Vika just because she's ranked second; I personally think they're underestimating Vika's ambition.

Too many want to underestimate Vika. Some allow their issues with her to cloud an accurate assessment of her ability. She is a majors winner, and has a moderately angry fighter's approach to the game. Having said that, all of Halep's scrambling should not work against a player who--frankly (and no insult) knows more than Halep.

Serena isn't beating Venus, but yes this match is sad. Vinci has no weapons and mladenovic just keeps making errors. I can't believe Vinci is this deep in a tournament. She wouldn't be if genie didn't fall and hit her head though.

They look like they are hitting the ball so softly. I've never seen an overhead with less pace than Mladenovic's. That said, I really hope she wins. A first semi for this young French girl could really set her off on a good path. She'll get destroyed by one of the Williams, but this has been a great run by her.

It will probably be similar to the two Serena-Errani slam semis. Vinci is Errani's bestie and has practically the same game, with a better (but still bad) serve, and generally weaker version in all else.
