I wonder how many of the top 16 seeds will still be in the draw come the 4th round? This could be carnage, even by WTA standards.

If Wimbledon used the mens seeding formula for the women where would Lisicki (and others) be seeded?

There are two women's threads. Is this the one we're going with?
Of course!

Just hopped on. Good draw for the Aussies! Stosur who ain't great on grass could reach the 3R!
Gavrilova gets Begu, not bad and she's knocked out higher players
Dellacqua gets qualifier Paczek then Svitolina
Tomjlanovic gets Koukalova then Aga
Unlucky for Gajdosova gets Lisicki

I really, really hope we see Serena vs. Venus in the round of 16. How likely do you all think it is that Venus can get there?

Her road:
1st round: Brengle
2nd round: Erakovic/Putintseva
3rd round: Errani/Schiavone/Krunic/Vinci

I really see it happening. The first 2 rounds are doable and 3 of her possible 4 3rd round opponents are clay courters.

It would be nothing short of a #miracle if #Venus could win (7) matches in two weeks.

If Venus brings the same form as last year against Kvitova, she will beat Serena.

That said, I don't think she will have that form this time around...:(

Anything is possible, but Venus is not aging as well as Serena, and though we know Venus will play at Wimbldon unlike any other major, Serena is on a mission.

If anything, it could be an incredible match--possibly the match of the event.

They'll withdraw again.
Maybe. If it affects their singles, I hope they do. But in 2012 Serena did win singles and doubles here and then a few weeks later singles and doubles gold on the same grass. 3 years is a long time for tennis players in their 30s, but it would be fun to see again.

It's the same shots, just placed differently. And she gets a lot more net time...especially helpful when making the transition to grass. And it has the element of competition which practice can't replicate. It's worked out well in the past...she won both singles and doubles 8 times: AO 03, 09, 10; W 02, 09, 12; USO 99; 2012 Olympics. Venus did it at W 00 and 08, and 2000 Olympics.

Not awesome. Of her 33 career finals only 1 has been on grass (Eastbourne 2010 Runner up).
But she's reached Wimbledon semi's twice (2011, 2012) and a QF (2009). Honestly wouldn't consider her a threat especially considering she just withdrew from Birmingham

Is she hurt again? Is that why she withdrew?

#Understatement.

Not only would it be a high quality match, but how many more times are we going to see #Serena v #Venus playing at #Wimbledon?

Big mistake. Unless Serena cuts down on practice time--substituting it with doubles play, she's risking the singles title.
Points tend to end quicker on grass, so as long as #Serena enters the tournament well-rested, she should be fine. But if she has two (3) set matches before the quarterfinals, she might question pulling out of doubles.

My hope is that #Serena is 100% physically starting the tournament.

I also think that both #Serena and #Venus know that there aren't going to be tons of #Wimbleon's left for them to play doubles, so they make the extra effort to try because they like the tournament so well.

She is not hurt. It was a precaution. She withdrew from Birmingham with an "injury" as a precaution so that she could try to focus more on Wimbledon which is more important. There were tweets she was jogging so how injured can she be?

By all accounts, she's 100% fit and ready. o_O

The Kvitova/Venus and Cornet/SW matches were THEE matches last year. Incredible tennis. IMO.

The bottom half is insane. Bencic will likely eliminate an injured Azarenka in the first round.

Azarenka is not injured! She wanted to get out of Birmingham as a precaution so it wouldn't mess her up for the more important Wimbledon. I doubt she will go out to Bencic. Azarenka should(on paper at least) make it to the QF to meet probably Serena/Venus.

Even if Azarenka is not injured, a nearly 26 year old playing against an 18 year old is a big disadvantage.

Huh? What are you talking about? You are not making a lot of sense. Anything can happen but I doubt Bencic will go deep. I doubt she will get past Ivanovic.

You're reading the draw wrong, because Belinda is playing Pironkova in the first round. Go on the Wimbledon site for an actual layout of the draw.

big New York Times article on Serena's coach/boyfriend

alot of other stuff too..some French tennis stuff as well..Gasquet doesn't like him, the coach doesn't like him much either it seems...Karlovic isn't French..also doesn't like him

can't argue the results though...have wondered if the personal situation became problematic how would the tennis continue?

You're welcome. I had a hard time when I was first looking at that picture of the draw too. Wimby was a bit slow getting the actual draw on their site, but it's up now.

I'm not underestimating Pironkova since she plays pretty well on grass... Ivanovic would be her first major opponent though. We'll see what happens.

Run Serena run. To me it seems like Mouratoglou is using her for her name.

Please, don't start overrating Bencic now. She's in a good place right now and really doesn't need unwarranted hype. She won her first WTA title and that's great but let's keep things in perspective. Ana Konjuh has also won her first WTA title and nobody's saying she'll make the quarterfinals.
