big New York Times article on Serena's coach/boyfriend

alot of other stuff too..some French tennis stuff as well..Gasquet doesn't like him, the coach doesn't like him much either it seems...Karlovic isn't French..also doesn't like him

can't argue the results though...have wondered if the personal situation became problematic how would the tennis continue?

Excerpt:

"They triumphed there in 2012, in their first tournament together. Mouratoglou exchanged sharp words with Williams’s father during the tournament, rejected her silent treatment at one point and then helped her overcome some shaky early rounds and click into an irresistible gear to win the title

“He’s a great coach, and I’m a great student, and we push each other,” Williams said.

Since they joined forces in June 2012, Williams has compiled a 193-14 record, winning seven of 12 Grand Slam tournaments and going 7-0 in Grand Slam finals. She also has won 18 other tour singles titles and two Olympic gold medals — in singles and in doubles with Venus — and has had her longest stay at No. 1, which extended into its 124th consecutive week as Wimbledon begins Monday."

#Mouratoglou and #Serena obviously compliment each other. The fact that he was strong enough to stand-up to #RichardWilliams and keep #Serena calm enough to win #2012Wimbledon speaks volumes of the mutual respect they have for one another. I don't know how I would react if my tennis coach ever spoke harshly to my father. He just might have been picking wood splinters out of his scalp. #GirlBye

I want to see Serena win this, not only to complete a 2nd career 'Serena Slam', but so she can set up what could potentially be the easiest step in a Calender Year Grand Slam, which is winning the US Open title that she has won the last 3 years.

Don't want to put the cart before the horse, though. Wimbledon awaits...

Hope she does so she can retire & do her 'holistic medicine' stuff.

I hate that Serena and Djokovic play at the same time because I won't get to watch both. I don't know if it'll happen this year or not but I know last year TSN switched from picking up ESPN's court-to-court mixed bag coverage, which I liked, to picking up coverage of entire matches from other sources (presumably Tennis TV). That can be great too, just not in the early rounds when I want to get glimpses of several different matches.

One thing that will be interesting to watch that nobody has mentioned yet is how Mattek-Sands and Safarova do in the ladies doubles. Like Serena Williams in singles, they're going for the calender year Grand Slam!

Expected slow start from Serena. Perhaps even a "scare" that is never really a scare and then an incredible comeback? I think that probably works better in round 2 or 3. Watch as she starts growing into the tournament.

LOL, typical rusty Wimbledon start for Serena. I still think that she shouldn't be skipping all the grass warmups as she's done for most of her career. She needs to hone her grass play a bit now that she's older, and attempting to do so at Wimbledon seems to be putting more pressure on her than is ideal.

"Shows the depth of women's tennis" -Chris Evert on Serena struggling to start.

Depth... in women's tennis... LOOOOOOOOOOL.

Gasparyan's service motion is so goofy.
We heard you the first ten times!!! Give it a rest!!!

Also, stop watching if you dislike women's tennis so much. I mean no one is forcing you to. It's not even like there's nothing else on. Djokovic is on Centre Court. Go watch that and stop disparaging women's tennis.

For someone who has so many posts in such a short period, you sure are terrible at reading who posts what.

Chris Evert talking about Serena's "excellent movement" is the most annoying thing.

Yeah. I'm really terrible at reading posts.

Selective editing doesn't change the fact you quoted my post about Gasparyan's serve when you said

even though it was my only post on the subject.

you should have noticed I'm complaining specifically about Chris Evert's commentary.

Again, maybe you should post less and work on your reading comprehension.
