Who will win Wimbledon?

Grass is really slow these days. Both can be challenging for Serena. Serena has mental block when playing them.
I don't understand why people attempt to say grass is slower. It's a fast surface and the bounce is low which favors big servers. None of that will change. If #Serena wants it, she will win this tournament.

Attempt to say? It has slowed down, and the bounce is not as low as it used to be. ESPN did a little feature on it today. Not something new though. Showed 3 of Roger's serves clocked at same speed. One was from many years ago at Wimby (2003 possibly), one from RG, and one from a recent Wimby. Bounce is higher and the ball slows down more before it reaches baseline.

Dude serena could win 6-0 6-0 and not do any sort of celebration/show any emotion and be silent throughout the whole match and walk off silently emotionless and people will still complain about her "behaviour". You know people have generally never played competitive sports when they keep complaining about how certain players fire themselves up.
People are just salty that she is still winning.
All i can say is relax. It will be all over soon.
This isn't true actually. I'm a big fan of Serena's game but that doesn't mean her OTT celebrations and general demeanour don't irritate me. You don't have to be a hater to point these things out.

Camera angle on Svitolina's court is very interesting.

Svitolina goes down 2 breaks to lose the 1st set to Doi 6-3. Doi is pushing her around the court. Doesn't look good for Elina. :(

.

They want pain and tragedy for her--that is the depth of their hate. That's why behavior displayed on a regular schedule by other players is glossed over or excused, but in their disturbed minds, Serena committed the crime of the century that is ruining" tennis.

They are in a miserable corner of their own making.

I don't know why anyone thought PK was going to be pulled down by illness. Players aggressively treat as best as possible and soldier on. She's the defending champion, so she will show up even if on crutches with her head wrapped in bandages, if necessary.

I was decided whether I wanted to anoint myself president of the Kvitova fan club earlier this year, but it occurred to me it's not much of a stretch to root for a 25-year-old 2-time major champion ranked #2.

Total dick move by the Williams sisters to pull out right before their doubles match. They did the same thing at the Australian Open! It screws up the seeding.

Yep, selfish as usual.

Like all tennis players--they play for themselves--not other players, a draw, or you.

Let's put this to the test: was it "selfish" fro Graf to bail on John McEnroe in Wimbledon's mixed doubles semis in 1999? They were almost a guarantee to win the title if they continued, but she quit on him to protect her knee (for singles). Was that selfish? There are endless, similar examples in tennis history, so does that apply across the board...or only to the Williams family?

Jesus, I'm putting you on ignore for the rest of this tourney.

Translation: you cannot admit there's no excuse for the irrational hate of the Williams for the same acts committed by other players.

It would be interesting if it backfired on the favorite and she ended up losing to her older sister.

That decision was as much for Venus as Serena. Venus still thinks of Wimbledon as "her" major and "home," and after the fight she put up last year, she probably believes she can go all the way.

Yes, but there is no question that all eyes are set on the favorite and her rare opportunity to go for the greatest achievement in tennis. They probably wouldn't have quit this early if that particular achievement wasn't on the line.
