Safarova hanging on really tough in the second. She's a tough nut to break. Saved 12/15 BPs so far.

Is this like the complete really not worth our time matches ? This being a non-major, there has to be some other reward than money.
 
Lucie plays better than I thought, if she keeps this up, she definitely has a chance to beat Kerber

Haha oh ok so she hasn't actually done anything wrong besides defeating players you like. Same as my dislike for Steve Johnson who always seems to defeat my man Tomic. ;)

OMG, what happened to Petra? She didn't' even realize she lost the first set 2:6, where was her mind?
 
Surely it's not a surprise to you guys she's losing though? Played a crap match against Vinci in Wuhan and an even worse match against Errani in Beijing. Suffered glandular fever recently. Kerber had the better odds for sure.

This tournament is an utter shambles. I'm expecting either; Pennetta, Kvitova or Safarova to retire during the tournament. Also expecting 2 of those players to lose all 3 of their matches. Honestly, the scoreline between Halep and Pennetta was a disgrace especially considering the fact that Pennetta beat Halep to win the US Open. Starting to wish Vinci won the Open. Defeated Serena and at least backed it up with a great run at Wuhan. Pennetta has done nothing since and should have retired then and there after her slam victory.

Really?! Why? Do you really think she needs to do anything, anymore with few weeks away from retiring? If she had the chance to catch a place at the WTA Finals after the US Open, why would she retire before the tournament? It really makes no sense.
$330K+ to show up and play/lose three matches is the easiest money she ever made.

Now, I would not be surprised by Pennetta either way - pull and upset or two and reach SF/Final or lose all 3 matches.

However, I see Mugu and Kerber moving up to the SF form one group and Sharapova and Halep from the other.
 
Thought Muguruza played really well, i've become more of a fan after today's performance.

First time i watched her play was at the Aussie Open in 2013 when she got mauled by Serena. Haha
 
Maybe I'm slow but I just noticed the women's doubles is a round robin this year? It's about time!!! Last year they did the 8 teams but no knockout...maybe they finally realized if the men's doubles is that way the women's should be to...no reason not to.
 
Due to the one week difference this year, last years WTA final points have dropped off. Here are some of the bigger changes.
Muguruza has now overtaken Sharapova and is world number 3. Sharapova down to 4th now.
Ivanovic has fallen from 12th to 16th.
Wozniacki has fallen from 11th to 17th.
Because of those two falling a few spots; CSN, Venus, Pliskova, Bencic and Vinci all move up 2 spots.
Bouchard falls from 38th to 48th.

OMG Pennetta is SO BAD. This is just terrible and boring. US Open run seems to be a huge fluke already. Watching a match with her is just cringeworthy. Bad errors, balls into the net, double faults just playing like a crap player.

Unfortunately I gave up on the match so not sure if Pennetta decided to turn GOAT or if Aga started choking. Knowing Aga, I believe the latter to be true but whoever was watching can enlighten me.
I'm watching now. Looks like Pennetta will troll everyone
 
Ok that point to get Pennetta to 30-0 at 4-3 in the 2nd was amazing. Pennetta playing great!!!!

Pennetta up 5-3 in the set. What a fightback, wow!
 
If Halep wins tonight and Aga loses this match then Radwanska is out!
Halep will qualify for the SF if she wins tonight. And then Sharapova/Pennetta will play for the 2nd spot in the semifinals from their group!

Big upset there by Flavia considering the thrashing she got by Halep. If Halep wins tonight against Maria, Aga is out and Halep will be in the SF.

Every year, Radwanska kills herself to get to the championships. She doesn't do squat, and is always exposed.

Just stay away!
