The match is terribly slow. Take your time, girls. We have all night long.
Djokovic must be enjoying the screaming.
Now I want Azar to win, she was cheated out of first set by linesman
I hope SERENA meets Sharapova this year at IW Finals. That would be awesome
And that thread would be deleted by the following morning.
Vika and her freakin' drop shots! lol

A better final would've been Niculescu vs. Serena.![]()
#No.
Vika was slighted by poor genetics, poor dietary habits and her inability to stay healthy for any length of time which has hindered her progression in the sport. You cannot blame the linesman for THAT.
#Vika is not yet ready for primetime. Not even Serena's hitting partner can help her woes. As it were.

AngieB, please explain the poor genetics, since she seems to be fit for the rigors of being a professional athlete.
I have always maintained that Vika's brief rise coincided with one of her few healthy periods and a dip in Maria's game due to injury. Once Maria regained her health it's been lights-out for Vika.No point in arguing Vika with Angie, that's just part of her schtick.
I, for one, thought for a long time that Azarenka has problems with the configuration of her feet: perhaps a bit on the flat side, with the ankle too forward oriented. See what happened:

Such a configuration sooner or later leads to serious pain under stress. The bones are not in the optimal position.
If Vika were fit for the rigors of professional tennis she wouldn't have spent the better part of two years recovering from injury. Her gait is awkward and she is overweight. She has likely already extracted the maximum physical potential out of the body she has. See #TracyAustin who is another example of how poor genetics can effect the prospects of tennis professionals.

Watson loses the first set in the TB after choking once again when serving for the set. Shes a good player but she really needs to hold her nerve, she could of had this set done and dusted but now this could be the beginning of the end for her good run here.

AngieB, do you have any theories about why there seem to be overweight women players? This seems to be very rare in the men's tour.Did you notice how awkward her gait is when she ambulates? It's painful to watch because it can't be untaught.

Should we start a separate Serena/Sloane thread for today so this one doesn't get deleted?
It's funny because it's true![]()
Just started a new thread for Serena and Sloane.
The Serena-Sloane match ended with the expected result, but it wasn't what I call high quality tennis.
This seems to have been a problem for the majority of the women's draw, in fact: hardly anyone is playing a good match at IW. Is it the courts? I've always felt that the ideal court for the Djokovics and Nadals of the world is not at all ideal for the women athletes. Women don't need slow courts to take the already limited oomph out of their shots.
Too bad. There will be no changing this situation any time soon, because for the most part it's Nadal, Djoko, et al. paying the bills, not the women.
I still have my money on serena getting to the final.
