Thiem dipping into the Gulbis play book unfortunately. Cilic 6-2. Serves first in second set.

Cilic wins the first set 6/2. Looking firmly in control. Thiem will definitely have to mix things up in the second set, or pray Cilic's level drops.

Double break gives Cilic the lead game serving in the second, adding more pressure on Thieminated.:(
A Thiem Team Troll.

That does it! You'll post during a Thiem match, but not Murray.

I just get too emotionally involved while Murray is playing and tend to talk gibberish (more than usual) so I leave it until after the match is over when I can say something sensible! ;)

I know the feeling (gibberish).

Then he comes up with "dat angle" forehand and an ace, although thiem manages to product a break opportunity 30-40.
Just tuned in, as Cilic aces away BP, Cilic looked good or Thiem sub-par/Both?
I'm getting angry with how well Cilic is playing. Thiem made some errors at end of first set, but finally getting the memo not to play all power tennis with Cilic. Thiem not showing his usual variety, yet.

Cilic was good in the 1st set, consistent depth on his shots and not nearly missing as much as Thiem was. A lot of baseline battles as you would expect with Cilic. Closer 2nd set, Thiem mixing it up a bit more now...

Cilic hitting form at the AO could only be good for the sport, liking what I'm seeing so far.
I'm thinking the same thing and a flatter ball will work real well. Cilic has looked awesome so far, ditto Thiem for that matter.

Is time for Thiem to do a Tommy Hass.
Lol. That clip is classic. I wasn't too familiar with Haas, but after seeing that clip for the first time I started to like him. And then I later pulled up highlights from his match with Safin at AO 2002 and was pretty amazed at his backhand. He hit some excellent bh dtl winners.

Right now, Thiem feels like a Mini-Hass to me. I hope he can do better than Hass by the time his career is over.
