A repeat of last years final, which Fed won in 3 sets.
Milos won his SF against Tomic in 2 tough TBs.
Fed came through his SF quite comfortably against Thiem, 6/1 6/4.
Both are in pretty good form. Good luck to both!

Match is at 7:00 pm Sunday local time.

Normally I'd think that Raonic could be a legit threat to Federer on this surface but I haven't seen him produce massive serves like he has before in this tournament. I'm thinking Federer in 2 sets with 1 tie-break but Raonic winning a set would not surprise me.

I hope no tiebreak. Federer is no longer clutch in tiebreaks. I'm kinda nervous because of the Ljubicic factor.
Remember Murray vs Berdych/Valverdu? Lol.

Depends on how Fred feels. If he's still a bit under the weather and prone to little bouts of hitting the wall like today, he'll win in 3.

Otherwise, straights albeit tight.

I want Raonic to win but i think Federer looked much better in his SF altho i would say Milos had a tougher oppenent. Hoping for a good match, last year was pretty close and as mentioned, both are in good form it seems. Just hoping for a great match to be honest!

Raonic's ground game is not bad anymore. He played great vs great opponent. He can beat Roger or at least make it competitive.

Little bouts of hitting the wall? Were we watching the same match? Maybe a tiny dip in like two games, but that bordered on masterclass.

Raonic's inside out FH is what will get me worried.. if he is smoking it, could be a tough match for Fed.. ofcourse, he is so dependent of the First serve.. I expect Fed's return game to pick up some steam..

Milos has to first serve 75% or better to have a chance. But don't underestimate his ground game which is getting better. Mobility will never be his strong suit.

Have you been away (er underground) for a considerable time? Haven't seen you around .

Been busy since October, coincidentally right after the USO so was just watching tennis through streams once every while, less time to lurk around these forums.

Fed up a set and a break in what looked to be a laugher??

And then Thiem starts swinging for the fences, breaks back, and lands enough bombs to make things interesting for a while???

Just remember, when you push your body when you're recovering from a bug, your energy can suddenly desert you without warning. That what happened to Fed in the 2nd, and against a serve like Rao's, you might not get many chances.

Gotta say Milos is one of the few players I have seen make huge strides on their mechanics on their swing. His backhand is 5x better than it was 2 years ago. It is still a weakness but it isn't a liability anymore.

Yes, even his backhand can now create rally. Forehand is much better than last year Brisbane. Don't know if that will matter though unless he can break Fed's serve.

I think we know that there is a "chance" but Milos will need to serve to the body a lot like he did to Bernard to hopefully get some floaters. When you stretch Rog he just slices it so low that all the tall guys end up imploding under pressure.
I would say 70/30 Fed/Milos.

I'm a little interested to see the dynamic with ex-Raonic coach Ljubicic in Fed's camp now. Wonder what insights he shared with Fed on any developments in Raonic's game. Funny how early in the season this match-up is happening.
