Good lord! @Aussie Darcy Thiem has accepted a wild card and is the number 1 seed.

Please give us a Thiem vs Kyrgios final.:D

Thiem is the favorite for the tournament easily.

Lol my bad didn't notice, will ask a mod to delete the late thread then.

Back on topic, Thiem will be dead, jetlag is very nasty going east. Dimitrov for the win.

All these points DT is hopefully winning- do they still count for something? Didn't he max out on his 250s or is it that only for the ranking?

Only gains points if he wins. Not scheduled the following week, yet?

Total suicide with his schedule...again.

Play at the pace of a top 10...maybe Metz, then Tokyo or Beijing, then Shanghai; not all four!

He must have put a bet on himself that he'll be the player with most matches played in a year or something... I hope he makes it to Christmas eve in one piece.

Thanks! Well, let's hope he wins a couple and misses the plane for the other then :)

Did Berdych drop further behind with his loss to the Young Beast in Leningrad?

If Thiem wins Metz they stay about even, Berdy back 700 points. Berdy has Zverev in his half again next week.:D

Dimitrov, Kyrgios, Thiem or Lopez. One of those four to win the title.

BTW I like the stadium.

Is it 20m between the baseline and back fence? Now I know why Thiem is playing

Court speed?

Anyway, I absolutely hate the stadium, even the first spots are sitting super high and miles away from the players, and almost all places are even further away

Thiem has wild carded into China Open too. Will Thiem play Antwerp, Stockholm, or Moscow? Its his only week not scheduled for the rest of the year.

It looks that way. Maybe it's just the camera angle or something. Here's another pic that doesn't look as spacey:

No idea about the court speed.

Seems abundantly clear that a Dimitrov–Ruud final is on the cards here. What joy.
Do we have any idea how Casper will do in the transition from clay to HCs?

With the 500 metre altitude and fairly warm climate, I don't think they can make a HC surface that can slow up the game to match what he has played on almost exclusively this year.

Dimitrov and Nick K. have a good chance of winning the title, Thiem IMO is running out of gas for this season.

It would be nice if Khachanov can make a nice run here. He opens vs Sousa and may have the power to dispatch him. The Mannarino/Kudla winner is beatable. That could set up a tasty QF vs FeLo. A win there could mean a big boy tennis match vs Sinner Nick.

Still not getting notifications when tagged :( And yes Thiem is playing almost every week til the end of the year.

Metz last week
Chengdu this week
Beijing ATP500 next week
Shanghai Masters the week after
(One week off; not playing Moscow, Antwerp or Stockholm I think)
Vienna ATP500
Paris Masters
No tournaments this week
ATP Finals

5 people watching Millman/Lorenzi in the stands. This is embarassing. Give more tournaments to Australia and take away from China. Sorry but this is absurd. Next to no one is watching.

Rain washed away completion of the schedule. TBF on Wednesday are Baghdatis vs PCB (5-5 in the third), Berrer vs ARV (4-6 7-5 1-3) and Troicki vs Ruud (Troicki leads 6-3 3-2 up a break).

Glutton for match play Thiem plays dubs with Stepanek!

Do you have an explanation for the stupid amount of tennis he is playing?

He's taking advantage of the weakest era in modern tennis history to rack up some ranking points, tournament victories and some money too. Can't blame him though I wish he'd cut back on the 250s and the doubles.

Another win for the big Russian Khachanov, this time in three over Mannarino.

Plays the Monaco/Lopez winner in his second ATP QF this year (lost to Lajovic at Kitzbuhel).

#GenXOnTheRise

After a less than perfect run of form that started after the broken paintbrushes in the Diego match, Dimitrov has won his last four 1st round matches. This is consistency. Top 15 is very likely.

He was leaking on his facebook page something was happening in 28 days a week ago, so it appears some announcement will be made on his return to Austria and the Vienna event. I'm predicting Muster as coach or engagement announcement. What else could it be?

Its definitely Thiem. In fact there was a designed purpose to his schedule up through June and they got him into the top 8 and better seeding. Yes it may have had some costs, but it also got Thiem very, very match tough.

Thiem's desicion to play Roger's cup was contrary to Bresnik's advice and he was not told of Thiem's hip issue until days before the trip. Thiem should not have played the event as he could have recuperated and legitimately skipping an ATP1000 would have allowed another one of his lesser tournaments to count. That decision has cost him at least 160 points; maybe 250. That is all on Thiem's desire to play.

Thiem perfers to play matches rather than practice and says he finds that easier.

Thiem's knee injury from the US Open seems to be minor, so he is now flooding his schedule with events as he needs matches after missing so much play this Summer. So far, so good in my book and he has another wild card at the China Open. Thiem had a good tournament in Metz and showed much progress in getting back to his best levels in his game.

Long term they need to get this figured out, but for now the over playing is much like Nadal's attempts to jump start his game after recent layoff by signing up for 3 seperate tennis events.
