For Raonic I think it is quite simply his body; his frame is not ideal for the demands of a tennis player (to put it mildly). He is as hard a worker in the gym as anyone so it's definitely not a fitness issue, but I do wonder what they can do in terms of maintenance going forward.

Your kidding right ? He's perfect to be The New World Number one ! What are you talking about ???

It's clear you have to be a BIG LUMBERING SERVE BOT. Then you are world number one!!!

- Sheesh! Why am I the only one who gets this ?

See the way Raonic sped around the court !

He make's NadFedMurovic look like a big slow lumbering idiots !

ROANIC IS A GOD. HE'S THE BEST - EVER !

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE SEE !

What did he have coming? He lost a tennis match. It's not like he was talking smack beforehand or something.

No he was was adding to and believing his own HYPE telling people how good he was.

Pride BEFORE a fall - Bagel for you 'Milosh'
All the ridiculous hype on here - Tennis warehouse - about how good he is - Did you not see what The useless Bum Murray did to him.

Did you see the press conference after ? - No credit for The Bum Murray just some self pitying bullsh*t about 'HIS BODY' not allowing 'the great Milos' to play ! WTF ! He's self obsessed and wrong for the game.

Who the F does he think he is ? Overgrandising loser !

I'd prefer if he was taking Smack. At least he'd not be bragging about his unbreakable serve.

The Bum Murray and the Jerk break it at will. He's got nothing to bother the big guys.

The REAL WORLD NUMBER TWO ROTFLMAO ! - I know who's taking Smack here ! LOL !

Um. Okay... missed the match today. Came back, and checked score. Um... ha. Not what I expected to see. What happened? Worth watching at all? Is Raonic just a total bust?

Maybe in the background if your moving around, but nothing to sit on the couch for

You seem to have a thing for instigating
I'm pretty sure that's full on trolling.

'Scared'? I think the adults will just tip their proverbial cap and say 'yes, he has eclipsed their achievements and warrants the GOAT label'. Don't really care what the kids do/say.

Tennis is like the stock market; past results do not guarantee future profits. 11 is only about 60% of 17 - a ways to go.

No. Nothing to see.

If Raonic gets off to a slow start - e.g. gets broken in his 1st serve game - he's toast. As much as his BH, volleys, and return have improved, breaking the other guy's serve isn't one of his strong points.

Gah... disappointing. Goffin would have put up more of a fight. Nadal's Masters record isn't his own anymore, at least... but has Djok distanced himself even more? He finds a crazy gear in finals.

Had to work through the entire match. Guess I didn't miss much. But I'm really curious: was Milos injured? Guy is the best server in the world. His second serve is excellent. So what gives? His % was low, aces low, 2nd serve points won % is like a qualifier vs. Serena Williams. Again, I didn't see it. But I would believe he has a worse groin injury than he has made public.

He took a brief MTO, but it didn't seem like anything too serious. It was just an abysmal performance tbh.

Couldn't make a serve, OMG. Very distressing.
Fed back for Miami though and he almost split the H2H last year with Djoker so let's see how it goes.

Don't kid yourselves, Djokovic just played someone who played terrible today. He will not have another year like 2015.

Wow, I'm kind of glad I missed that match! What a let down.

I hope Milos is o.k. and there isn't a meaningful injury there. He needs to be able to bring it in the late stages of a tournament.

All of them have been straight set beatdowns: 2-6,2-6 to Nadal at 2013 Montreal, 2-6,3-6 to Djokovic at 2014 Paris-Bercy, 2-6,0-6 to Djokovic at 2016 Indian Wells.
It's sad that he appears to be regressing. Going by the pattern, it should have gone 2-6 4-6, but he's going backwards. :(

He doesn't appear to be able to bring his A game to big finals. I've noticed that his major weapon, his serve, has always been off during these finals and that's a luxury he just can't afford when up against the very top guys. Maybe he needs advice from a good sports shrink?

And I honestly thought that Milos has the best (or second best) second serve on tour

At least he should have gone for it - you can't do much worse that 2-6, 0-6 and barely a few second serve points won...

100% agree. While watching today's match, I noticed he's got a very short achilles heel (and thus long calves). His legs belong on a skateboarder, not an athlete. It's why he's always going to be 'slow-footed' or 'react slow', etc. Because it takes a long time for his legs to 'fire'. Any fast/quick athletes have long, elastic Achilles heels (and thus greater kinetic rebound energy).

Didn't see the match earlier (just watching now on TC) but they both definitely came out the gate cranking their ground strokes.

all his "injuries" happen in finals no? he seems to forget how to play tennis once he reaches the final.

It's interesting how he hasn't won more than 5 games in a masters final

This may be partially due to the 'big man curse'. It's not easy moving this mass around for several matches in a row especially when you aren't a natural good mover (and Milos ain't one). Same as his AO showing... his body just gave up at one point. Unless he fixes that (how?) he'll always have trouble winning two-week events.

There are a few exceptions but Djoko usually keeps his best tennis for final. He doesn't leave anything to chance in that final sprint and he has nerves of steel.
Well, right now he has nerves of steel because he almost always wins. I'm sure people said the same thing about Fed between 2004 and 2007. And about Nadal on clay until he declined.

Kind of feel that way too, I think we will see a lot of Gen next stars in the top ten by the year end. Raonic has the serve to trouble anyone, just that find him very very boring.

He's tall and slow, yes, I know what you mean. Still, it's refreshing when these younger players do well and challenge for the wins.

Wow thank God I didn't waste my time watching the massacre. Was hoping Raonic was injured when I saw the score... but it appears not?

Sad times for tennis.

Not sure how he can fix. He can't get any shorter

Good point :) I'm sure there are ways to get fitter, stronger etc. but I'm also sure Milos has tried many of them already. Prevention may be the best medicine; as I said in the 'Raonic Appreciation Thread', he'll have to manage his schedule more carefully than other, more durable guys.

The big server look to be hampered by a lower-body injury and took a medical time-out after the first set to receive treatment. He is planning to undergo tests before making a decision on his participation at the Miami Open.

“[It felt] similar, but not as bad,” said Raonic, who sustained an adductor injury at the Australian Open. “I don't think I let it get as bad. I have to do the right investigation. Just sort of see what it is and then I can judge it from there.”

This probably partly explains why his serving was so off, I think people are a bit too harsh on him here.

Hey David you said Raonic was THE REAL WORLD NUMBER TWO ! Gonna show us all how great he is.
Gonna hammer the Jokers ass !

Guess you were right ! LOL !

Idiot..... Guess you must be blind or something. Has anyone ever been more wrong ?

Apologies if you are blind, but it has to be something like that ...You'd have to be blind or stupid or both to think that Raonic has anything to bring Tennis.

He could quit...!

Best for him, best for the game.
