This should be a good one! No Djoko in the final for the first time in a long long time.

Can Nadal reclaim the trophy once again?

Professor Gurufils continues his lecture tour but I fear the student will turn the table tomorrow in a very long drawn out dialogue that will take over two hours to conclude. The veteran student in two long sets, maybe three.

It's 50/50 I'd say. Maybe, just maybe Nadal has the upper hand. But he's still not back to even 80% of his peak.

RAFA ready to expand his learning, no?
Comes at just the perfect time for him too - when the Miami and MC draws were released, I thought either Murray or Djokovic would get propelled to more Slam success, but it looks like The Guru's masterplan is to provide Nadal with the hitting practice for launching an assault on RG. 10th trophy potentially incoming!

Potentially? Potentially!?

Have ye no faith in the greatest thinker on tour?

You really think so? I hope so for the sake of entertainment.

Yeah, Nadal has been alright this tournament. But not like he was 6-7 years ago for sure. Monfils seems to finally getting his **** together since the Swedes took him under their umbrella.

But yeah hope it goes to 3 sets for entertainment. Unless Nadal wants to close this one in two straights of course :)

The only meaningful poll here will be how many games La Monf can take i.e how many games he can play without clowning.

I hope for his sake that he leaves the clown at home. He's got a good chance to win his first masters so he better do his best. On the other hand, everybody will be watching and that's when he likes to bring out the clown.

The key is to see whether Gurufils also allocates sessions for His other main disciples including Djokovic before RG - we are not sure about the balance or weightings of such sessions relative to each other, and can therefore not yet predict how the tennis landscape will change...

Good point. From the shocking results in Monte Carlo it seems clear who the Guru has pointed out as his apprentice, but one should never be too sure in predicting the Guru's mysterious ways.

Why are people referring to La Monf as Guru? What's the reference?

Because of the way he controls the tennis landscape and the extent to which he teaches the other players on tour.

Monfils so tall and strong and fast, playing in hometown. I don't see how crippled Nadal can make a dent here.

Wait, what? Aren't you supposed to say that it's now certain that Nadal and Donskoy will split the next ten slams?

What does he control? He can't control himself even. Clown.

Donskoy hits a career slump and magically all the peculiar characters seek a moment in the limelight with their critical remarks~!~

Oh, I would imagine that's just a result of his long-term prep for the olympics. Any knowledge regarding his chances of qualifying for that?

It'll clear up and get more windy as the match progresses. So if it goes the distance it would favour Nadal. So Monf needs to take this in 2.
I can see how clear skies and a bit of wind could inspire Nadal to put up a fight against Monfils. It's all about the timing.

Olympic gold is equivalent to 16 slams. Absent an unforeseen injury, Donskoy is in, it's only a matter of which country he will be representing.
