It appears that quality is increasingly unimportant in communicating with the general public these days. All about timing and cost.

I'll stake my claim here.

Nadal will take over 2 hours to decimate the mercurial Frenchman, 6-3, 6-2.

It's never mattered that Monfils is hugely talented and actually has the game to beat Nadal on any surface. But he's a classic head case and couldn't beat Nadal in a clay final if his life depended upon it. I think he's beaten him twice, but that last time was 4 years ago.

Nadal in 2, but Monfils has a chance if he doesn't clown around and is in a good place mentally. Two big ifs, admittedly.

I agree that this scenario could happen, but isn't it easier to beat Nadal now than it was 4 years ago?

I think they said that today was the first time Monfils beat a top 20 player in a year, last time was Dimitrov in Monte Carlo last year. Though he has been playing more focused and achieved pretty good results, he's been benefiting a **** load from draws opening up perfectly

Nadal looking solid. I think a GOATing Tsonga would have a better chance, with his ability to mix it up a little. Monf is good, but Nadal will carve him up.

A GOATing Tsonga perhaps, but on the average I believe Monfils will make a better final even if his chances are still slim. Monfils moves better than Tsonga, especially on clay.

I'm not convinced if Monfils is as much of hitting talent as of running talent.
I agree. On first glance he looks incredibly talented. Insane athleticism and top end speed, an he crack the ball so hard. However, he's not really a clean hitter and hes not exeptionally quick on the first meters, so he ends up way behind the baseline, with no point construction to speak of

Why are more people posting on this thread when @Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil created his first?
Because nobody likes him.

It's been so evident that there's actually a thread about this.

Perfect scenario for Nadal. Got a hard fought win over Murray, conquering some mental demons perhaps. Tomorrow gets a lesson from Gurufils...

He may actually have a good clay season

I like this match up! I would love to see Monfils win a masters but I'm sure Nadal will prevail.

Djokovic not in the final is a win!!!!

If it's cloudy, Nadal won't have a chance against Monfils.
Looooooooool. Your posts always crack me up :)
Rafa is now on a roll after completing his triumphant tripartite intro to his red hot spring of revenge (that I predicted btw ;)).
After absorbing the powerful and enlightening teachings of Gurufils in the final, he will naturally proceed to a clean sweep of the clay season. "Back with a vengeance" that one will be called!! Get the threads ready for tomorrow. They've been around for a while but first time in forever that I'll actually be ready to concur.
I like both, so perfect final for me regardless of outcome. So happy for Gael, well deserved moment in the sun. Even as a finalist, he'll get to hold a trophy, such an encouraging start to the clay season. Everyone in France has been waiting for a new Noah to happen for so long!

Other than Tsonga's undoing, didnt see any anything special from Gael..

Rafa in 2.. like Fed, somehow let the guy get a M1000 since GS's are out the equation..

I didn't watch his match against Tsonga, but what happened? Tsonga played pretty decent against Fed the day before...
