2016 Olympic Tennis Tournament - Doubles

Yep. Nadal is an exceptional volleyer. Not sure why so many were skeptical when McEnroe praised Nadal for his hands at the net, because he's proven that with his success in doubles.
For one, in singles especially he is reluctant to punch his volleys and slices them too much. I've seen it happen too many times where he slices a volley into open court and loses the point because he gave his opponent a chance to get the ball. He's not a bad volleyer, but he wasn't and isn't the best volleyer in the top 100. That's why people lol'd at Jmac's comment, and it's why I jokingly post #nadalbestvolleys when he misses some.

I would guess that his serve is a major reason for success. He gets some decent placement and makes a pretty high % when he wants to. Good passing shots too.

Lopez in tears.

Nadal's topspin was too tough for Pospisil to handle. Canadian commentary would not call out Pospisil who was clearly the reason for the Canadian loss. Far too many errors.

So do the losers play each other for the bronze? Or is it by who got the most points in their match? If they have to play each other when would that be?

Nadal has a golden opportunity to cement his legacy as the best Olympics tennis player in world history. No other man in tennis history has EVER won three gold medals in three different disciplines, and if he does it all in the same year, then he'll be the greatest tennis Olympian for generations to come (it would be as good as Usain Bolt winning three gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4x100m). He'll win a gold medal in his 30s, which Federer wasn't able to do, AND it'd show the world just how good Nadal is in doubles (I think if Nadal played the doubles grand slams, he'd pile them up, just like he did with Roland Garros in the singles). And then Nadal would have 4 gold medals- and he'd be heading into Tokyo 2020 with the option of adding even more to his career gold medal haul.

Currently that title of "best tennis has to offer in Olympics" should go to Massu :) Nadal or Murray better change that!

Nadal is now comprehensively the best Olympic player of the big 4 (1 singles gold + 1 doubles {silver/gold} > 1 singles gold + 1 mixed doubles silver > 1 singles silver + 1 doubles gold > 1 singles bronze).
Let's wait until after the Olympics. Murray just entered mixed doubles as well. If any of the two win singles that one is the best obviously
