H2H is 7-1 in favor of Rafa, with their last meeting taking place at 2015 Indian Wells.
A crap match that saw Simon serve poorly (more than usual) and cough up loads of cheap errors.
Hopefully this one doesn't disappoint.

RAFA will beat him silly. unless his wrist blows up. his doctors better be doing a good job telling him to take it easy if he needs to because Nadal is playing as much tennis as he did when he was 18 year old....................

The only way Nadal can save his energy up for three matches is if he is able to win At least a couple games without touching the ball. So maybe it would be nice if Simon is able to pull a Fognini

Rafa's matches have been postponed.
How are they not allowing any of Rafa's matches being played? This is insane. Things just got much more complicated for Nadal. Will they still try to finish on the original target days, or will they extend one day?

I guess they could extend for a day if needs be. Would then clash awkwardly with the Cincy schedule though.

That's why:

Although he has said that he is doing so because of the Olympics, I have a feeling is that he is trying to gain matches on his belt for the rest of the year. There is no way he can be competitive if he don't get matches.

There is fine line though, it is important to get the matches, I agree. But he is also coming back from wrist injury, and three matches in a day is not what the doctor ordered. Hopefully he will be able to get through them with minimum discomfort.

Seeing the intensity of his practice gives me relief that he might have the stamina to do well in all 3 matches... but yea 3 competitive back to back matches is ludicrous

I think he is fit enough, but 3 straight matches? You know he is going to try hard in all three, he is just built that way, and still so many matches to come.
