I don't really mind that Thiem lost to Pella, it's just that he had a good shot at winning Rio and that would have given him 320 more points. Still 740 points off top 10, but is now at his new career high of #15 :).

perhaps Guido bought nadal's appendix on **** and just had them transplanted.this could explain his sudden ascendance:)

Lol no. If Rafa loses to Cuevas, then it's really the end, nothing to add. But Rafa should win Rio now. He's not fallen that low that he cannot win a final vs a Pella type (hopefully...)
Gotta agree there.
Thiem's OP backhand is what makes him such a threat to Nadal's repetitive (and annoying-as-hell) forehand-to-backhand strategy. Pella won't be able to do anything, even if he is a lefty.

Feels like watching a Fedal RG final. That stuff gave me PTSD. Every forehand to Cuevas' backhand is making me physically uncomfortable.

Thiem got Pellanated or Guido-nated, Pella into the finals, Pella issued Thiem a finnish passport, finished with Rio 2016.

Congrats to Pella blnt Thiem

Cheers

She's right though. Nadal definitely seems burnt out but Thiem isn't anything special either as far as I can tell. It's a really sad field these days.
Tired after the intense, heavy Ferrer match (Thiem sez). We've jumped Thiem up a bit, but he's still quite capable on clay. Anything in the next month of hard courts is a bonus. With few points to defend before the French Thiem should make top ten by then (catching Ferrer looking optimisic now). Thiem at 15 Monday. Try catching the second set of the Ferrer match and I doubt you'll agree with Vero (3 UEs and very heavy balls overwhelm Ferrer).

I have zero interest in watching a Ferrer-Thiem match on clay at an insignificant tournament. Also, I doubt Ferrer gives his best at these Mickey Mouse tournaments any longer.

I'm a Djokovic band wagoner, but I also liked Fed 2004-2006, Nadal 2008-2010 and Murray 2012-2013

Watched some of the match. 117 kph second serves not a good sign. Its regression at this point and his favorite surface may wear him down further. Hopefully he make it within top 4 seeds and have a decent run at French, but retirement imminent based on Rio match. A sour note to end on after two weeks on clay.
