How badly declined have Nadal and Ferrer become to lose to this?
Did you watch the Ferrer and Nadal matches?

Agree that Nadal has declined on clay and will have a rough, competitive season. Ferrer still playing well, but with recent losses to Thiem and Almagro his ranking seems likely to decline given all the points from last year and his abscence through Wimbledon to the US Open.

Pella may regret that. When Ferrer failed to capitalise on break points to go up a double break, the tide of the match quickly turned. I wonder if this will again be the spur that Thiem needs to come out and play?
Haha. Commenting during Thiem match, so now you need to step up for Murray and release your superstitions.

I can't, I'm too much of a coward. I need my superstitions (even if they don't always seem to work). :D
Well that's alright. I just wish you were there to tow the line during the upcoming Clayray matches (an exception for Murray's worst surface?). @sosa09 is big Murray supporter who likes Thiem and as Argentinian I wonder what he feels about this match.:D

Great mind think alike.;) Any thoughts on Mr. Kyrgios. Seems like a betting opportunity for you and @Aussie Darcy . @Wynter missing in action on the Kyrgios quest to save tennis too.

I picked Kyrgios to beat berdy in my multi today , unfortunately lost other legs

Depending on how well Cilic serves i think he will take this.
Also the outsider according to the odds

I want Thiem to win because I picked him in the sudden death league for the semifinals lol. But I will be happy if Pella wins, this guy was supposed to be a great player some years ago. I remembered for ex reading in 2008/2009 some argentinian tennis magazines, that Pella was THE player to follow, that he had a big future ahead of him, and 7 years later, nothing happened...

Only now he seems to be playing at a good level in the atp events. Maybe this year he can finally reach his full potential. I also like him because he is a left handed player like me:D , and I like how he plays too.

ditto

Not even close to the next Nadal... but this guy Pella reminds me of Ferrer in terms of solidness.

I'm glad for this. We really need more solid players coming out of the challengers. Too many of the younger players are streaky, ball-ripping, unforced-error machines. It is nice to see younger players who exercise patience, play percentage tennis, play positional tennis... and only go for the kill when it makes sense.
Is Pella the next nadal?
Guys, Pella is not a freaking newcomer. The guy has been around for so long and is almost 26 now. It's like saying Cilic is a younger player.

Yeah but people forget quickly, he really shot up in 2012 but fell off after that. It's been 2 years since he was a relevant name, that's a while in tennis time.

Pella must also be very motivated because a couple of days ago he was named in the argentinian davis cup team for the first time in his career. Mayer and Pella will play the singles matches.

The pride of Bahia Blanca! Vamos! (Well maybe Ginobli is, but hey he's not doing bad!)

Pella's ranking will shoot up from this run, as the sky boys said Pella has only won 12 matches on tour, now he wins 4 in a row.

Ugh, Nadal has just been gifted another title. Pella is another of those fast-moving no-power young players. At least he's a lefty, but tomorrow he'll be running a marathon of put-the-ball-back-in-play with Nadal, and he'll lose.

Just was checking Pella's result from last year at Rio - he went out in the first round qualies...next year makes the finals! That can't have happened too often.

I feel used, I was building Thiem up too after these last two weeks..I do like Guido though...as a player and name
