Looks like Gael has won 5 career 250's and Marty has 3 250's.

Martin now has a 500 to go with his 3 250s while Gael remains stuck on 5 250s. Congrats to Martin but I really thought Gael had this one in the bag given that he had cut down on the clowning and had been playing more disciplined tennis this week but, in the end, it was Klizan who was the more aggressive and determined, an amazing result when we consider how close he was to going out against Bautista Agut and Mahut! :)

I think it's reached the point where I'd prefer to have Klizan's career. I know reaching a final is better than losing before the final, but you can't overlook the amount of times a player like Monfils has tasted defeat in finals. In the achievement meter, reaching a lot of finals is clearly better. But in the happiness meter, it's much better to have a 4-0 record. I think we should always compare these two categories.

I would make an exception for Ivanisevic (all those Wimbledon finals, only one title) as opposed to Johansson or Costa (1 Slam final, 1 victory each), just because his win came at the end of his career, as a wildcard, and in great style (breaking the spell, so to speak). His level of joy must've been out of this world.

Career records in finals:

Monfils: won 5, lost 18
Klizan: won 4, lost 0

That's terrible conversion and what a surprise today though! It's as if he played this tourney for fun.
He even troubled Novak at Miami last year and took a set which contributed to the destruction of Novak's racquet. :D

Same with Novotna, to a lesser extent.
