I must say I am impressed.
That's probably the best tournament Murray played the entire year alongside Wimby.

Trying to emulate Djokovic 2015 by winning Beijing/Shanghai while toying with the opponents I guess?

I think so too, and I am a GofFan, but I was commenting on the 5 or 6 "sitters" he missed in this match, at crucial points. He is only human, and one heck of a player. But this happens to him more often than he or any of us wants.

He is getting back to where he was after dismal performance at USO.
I guess he needs to put little more weight to intimidate his opponents.:D
 
Not too sure what's up with Novak but the smiling approach was good to see! I think this will be his blip for the tournament! I wouldn't mind but M Zverv is simply a mediocre journeyman even I wouldn't mind a crack at M Zverv on grass I reckon that would be a good match.
 
The older generation just won't go away. Just when it looks like Pouille, Kyrgios, and Zverev are all ready to break through and start challenging, the semi-final lineup in the penultimate MS1000 event of the season features a 28-year-old, two 29-year-olds, and a 31-year-old.

Of course you can never be certain, but i will be deeply surprised if Djoker loses to BA. If its a Murrovic final i consider it quite open.

Dont know what it is with Novak and these early match problems vs mediocre players. Is he trying to win with minimum effort? Or is he studying their weaknesses so he can exploit them later in the match? Or is he plain and simple struggling? What you think?

Sometimes I am not so sure either. Most of the time his best performances come in the final stages against stronger opponents. It could be that he needs more time to find rhythm, but I think he does well with managing his level throughout the tournament, knowing he doesn't have to be amazing to win early rounds. Also, these weaker opponents who haven't played him often pretty much have nothing to lose when playing him so they are under no pressure. He has established the edge over all of his big rivals now except Stan at Slams which might be the reason he does better against them. So much depends on your mentality nowadays.

Djokovic used to be more of the opposite. Would win the early matches with bagels and bread sticks and then by the finals start to lose some form.
Now he does more of how the other greats used to. Slug along in the early rounds and then round into form.
He still is not as great doing that as other greats but he has gotten a lot better at it. His majors final records should be a little better than it is. win or two more.
Def has had major final problems.

M Zverev has the combo to make Novak uncomfortable, good placement of serve, left handed, net rush, BH slices. Doesn't get much worse.
 
Roberto is going to win Shanghai. RBA played so well against Tsonga; he was absolutely smacking his forehands... making shots he had absolutely no business making. The way Agut was playing, he'd have even beaten a peak Tsonga. Bye-bye Djokovic next round. This Masters 1000 is Roberto's to lose.

I like RBA but even if he beat Djokovic, I doubt he could beat Murray, does not really have the game to beat him but of course you never know.

It's called Djokovic is declining, Djokovic's serve and ground game is taking a turn for the worse and it's also calling for a more exciting 2017 year.

He had a fragmantated summer with a lot of physical struggle and probably mental exhaustion too.
Right now he is trying to regain form.

The true extent of his decline will be known after AO next year.

Fixed it for you.
There is nothing exciting about the tour being a mess.
Other players have to raise their levels not Djokovic/Murray to lower theirs'.

Right now djokovic is in that place where all decent level players go where you have little feel for the ball on the racket. The ball is the size of a pea. Aggressive zoning players are the worst to face. If djokovic does not start feeling that ball do not count Murray out.
