Condolences to the great Federer fans out there and congrats to Raonic. After Djokovic lost in the 3rd round, I picked him to win this tournament and I am sticking with it. I think JMac may lead Raonic to his 1st Slam title Sunday.

The big factors in this match have been:

1) Raonic has been playing extremely clean tennis. Incredibly awesome volleys and groundstrokes with few unforced errors.
2) Federer has not played the important/critical points that well.

That's quite enough for Raonic to take this match.
raonic actually had 40 UEs (including 11 DFs) ...so it wasn't extremely clean tennis from him.

Federer went into full auto-cockblocking mode in the wrong moments to get broken in the 1st and 4th, and that was it...

The 4th set was key. Milos served very well when down break points, not much Roger could do on those so not his fault there. However, the 5-6 40-00 game was inexcusable, that is what killed him today - although he wasn't guaranteed to win the breaker. Only he will know why he served the 2 double faults, over serving on the 2nd serve each time.

The way Fed looked hurt out there reminded me a lot of Malisse 2012.

Couldn't really bend down. Using more finess.

i dont want to waste my time on this loser federer
"Loser Federer"? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The guy is the most successful tennis player of all time and your calling him a "looser". Stop treating tennis players like machines, they are people that are world class at what they do. Someone has to loose. Don't put demands on people, especially when you can't meet them yourself. Go beat Federer if he is such a "looser".

Sure Raonic earned it, but with a lot of help from Fed, that cannot be denied. If Raonic won the 4th set tiebreaker then for sure Raonic was the better man this day, but that was not the case. Fed was up 40-0 in that 6-5 game and 2 DFs? I mean WTF. Fed had him dead to rights in the 4th set and he just played quite casual through a lot of it, blew numerous more BP chances as per usual. Raonic great match, but Fed man, you gave it to him.

Thank you for your kind words. This one hurts, but I still want to remain optimistic. There's still the US Open left, even though it's a long shot.
i'd rather him win another at the USO to be honest. But he has to stay healthy, play himself into form, and yes Djokovic has to lose again because Federer doesn't have the nerve to beat him anymore. Oh well...never count out a player of Rog's caliber but it's starting to get frustrating.

You see what I'm saying. McEnroe is already getting credit for this.

90's C will never call Raonic a MUG ever again. Actually knowing him he probably will! :D
Stepped up in 4th and 5th when it mattered but generally it wasn't a great match either him or Federer played. Can also count himself lucky Federer got injured at crucial time.

See I would buy this. But Federer double faulted the match away when he was holding serve with such ease almost the whole match. He should've pushed it to a tie break and went to the final in 4. He even had chances to break. 5th set, his thigh gave in and his serve gave out but this should've been wrapped in 4. I would buy your statement if he was struggling the whole match. But he was dominating. With Djokovic out this should've been it. Perhaps it is time to admit I was wrong. Federer can play as long as he likes and I'll be thrilled but the final slam isn't really coming.

I have a strong feeling that Federer is going to announce retirement.
I don't. Unless his knee isn't gonna comply. I think he would rather skip the last half of the season and still have a protected ranking than retire. He still beats most of the tour.

90's Clay mode: This club footed MUG could barely even take out 35 year old Fed with a bad back ROFLMAO!!! We all know he's just gonna MUG it up against Murray in the final. It only took him a MILLION YEARS to do something noteworthy, but he STILL can't win anything just like the rest of these useless CLOWNS.

good effort from federer ? you are insane ..

at 5-6 in the 4th , up 40-0 ...2 DFs, once hits right back at raonic to get broken
in the 5th, DFs again and once again, hits right back at raonic to get broken

of course raonic did his part by returning well after 40 all and then in the 5th set game ..but he wouldn't have broken if it was a good effort from federer ..
Whatever abmk. From my perspective Raonic played a very good match. People have been complaining about how these younger players aren't stepping up against the Big Four. Well Milos did that so give him some credit even if it was against an aging Federer. I never felt confident that Federer was going to win this match and posted that days ago.

Do not underestimate Berdych, if you think Murray is going to "cruise" think again.

just drop it man...these clowns see what they want to see. No hope in convincing them otherwise. Federer double faulted away 3 breaks in 3 different sets but those guys will say what they want. Let them...they don't know jack anyways

This match reminds me of Becker's Monte Carlo final against Muster. Becker was serving for the match at the tie-break, and on his 2nd serve, he went for an ace but made double fault instead. He lost that match and never won a single clay tournament in his career. Federer went for aces on his 2nd serve not once but twice at 5-6, 40-15 in the 4th set, and eventually got broken and lost the set. This defeat is really tough to digest....

GOD DAMN SECOND SERVICE.
If only tennis got rid of it, it would weed out the Raonices of the world. Once again a servebot winning a match with fewer points.

Another dull final coming up - until today, Wimbledon had almost been spared since Sampras retired.
Brah if it wasn't for the serve, us Fed fans would be at like 12 or 13 slams. The serve is literally the only weapon he has now. When it gives in you've seen what happens :)
