FIRST ROUND JACQUELINE CAKO (USA) d [2] NICOLE GIBBS (USA) | 6 - 3 | 7 - 5
Flipkens deserves shot of the year but Aga will win it as she has the big fan base.
Radwanska's was a stunning rally but the shot was nothing spectacular.
Halep's was also pretty meh, was more about how she hung in the point and won it.
Wozniacki's I just don't even know how it's there? We see that sort of shot all the time, the dropshot and the approach and going cross court. Nothing great.
I can't get over Flipken's shot, behind the back and it landed in. Just stunning. Absolute winner.
That's very true, many may feel she deserves it. I still think Flipkens shot is far more amazing and unlikely to be repeated, I think it deserves a rally of the year nomination but the specific shot itself is just not as impressive as a behind the back shot like Flipkens.Aga may win it because she has a bigger fan base or she may win it because people like her shot better. There's no way of knowing which one of the options is the correct one, though.
But I agree Flipkens' shot was pretty amazing too.

And this is the least surprising result in months.
Anyone that follows her or Caro on social media knew that Gibbsy had done ZERO to do with tennis lately.
She probably would swap for a major though.Radwanska wins shot of the year off a shot we see fairly frequently, especially on the men's tour.
Can honestly say I've never seen a male or female hit a behind the back shot like Flipkens did. Should've won. Congrats for Aga's fan base though... She wins all these things that it's barely needed anymore. Bet she'd swap them all for a slam though.Maybe one day Aga...
The Game Insight Group (GIG) undertook a study that measured players while running across a distance of 3m or more, involving the use of statistics from the Australian Open over the years.
In the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) circuit, Angelique Kerber had the highest average top speed with 14.27km/h while Julia Goerges (13.85km/h) came in second followed by Agnieszka Radwanska (13.79km/h) and Simona Halep (13.69km/h).
Halep finds herself on top of the list when it comes to highest top speed with 23.04km/h with Carla Suarez Navarro (22.48km/h) coming in second and Dominika Cibulkova finding herself in third place. Research on two of the most popular players on the circuit, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, was also done, with the Russian surprisingly posting better numbers in both higher top speed and average top speed.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has hired Karolina Pliskova's former coach, and Pliskova hired Kvitova's former coach.
The 11th-ranked Kvitova will now work with Jiri Vanek, who parted ways with Pliskova last month. The sixth-ranked Pliskova, meanwhile, has hired David Kotyza, whose seven-year partnership with Kvitova ended in January.
With Vanek, who joined her in 2014, Pliskova jumped into the top 10 and reached the U.S. Open final.
During her seven years with Kotyza, Kvitova won 17 WTA titles, including Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. But she was struggling after their split, and former doubles specialist Frantisek Cermak, who was coaching her from April until September, didn't change that much.
During her partnership with Carril, Konta began her meteoric rise up the rankings, winning her first WTA title at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford and reaching her first Premier Mandatory final at the China Open. Konta reached the Australian Open semifinals at the start of 2016, and narrowly missed out on a debut appearance at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
She nonetheless played the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, where she reached the final four and secured a year-end Top 10 ranking.
Konta is set to kick off her 2017 season at the Shenzhen Open alongside defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska and Simona Halep.
Keys and Hogstedt, who also coached Caroline Wozniacki and Eugenie Bouchard, began working together in April and their collaboration netted immediate results. Keys made the biggest final of her career at the Italian Open in Rome and won her second career title at the Aegon Classic in Birmingham, England, launching her into the Top 10.
Their success continued over the summer hardcourt season, as Keys made another big final at the Rogers Cup in Montréal and the semifinals at the Olympic tennis event, before making the second week at her sixth straight Slam at the US Open.
So what's that make? Kvitova, Pliskova, Konta, Keys and Svitolina...
All of whom had a fantastic year... Odd.
If she can stay not injured, she could have a good chance for Top10 in this WTA. Venus is still No17 at 36.Hingis played singles at IPTL and defeated number 22 Bertens 6-1... Would love a singles comeback from her. Bertens served 7 double fault in the set of an exhibition.....

Jankovic ended up beating Hingis and Bertend went on to beat Jankovic.Hingis ... and Krygios would take this kind of thing seriously. Everybody else is just there for a hit and giggle. Nobody wants to injure themselves in the off season.

They all care to some extent.
Seriously crazy results though.

Clearly you're well versed in fashion and tennis outfitshttp://www.wtatennis.com/videos/article/6082974/title/serena-williams-best-shots-of-2016
What did I take from this? Serena Williams wears some awful tennis kits....
Truly horrible. And rarely flattering.

After a career-best 2016 season, Elina Svitolina will start 2017 with a new team led by Gabriel Urpi, along with coaching consultant Thierry Ascione and hitting partner Andrew Bettles.
Urpi is an experienced coach who worked with former No.1 Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario during two of her four Grand Slam runs, 1994 Wimbledon winner Conchita Martinez, and Flavia Pennetta, helping her become the first Italian woman to crack the Top 10 back in 2009.
Both Urpi and Ascione are former ATP players, while Bettles was a hitting partner for 2008 French Openchampion Ana Ivanovic.
Oliver Fawls will continue on as Svitolina's fitness coach; the Ukrainian youngster credited Fawls throughout her successful season, one that saw her defeat both reigning World No.1s in Serena Williams (Olympic tennis event) and Angelique Kerber (China Open), reach a career-high ranking of No.14, and reach the final of the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai.
Soon after her big week in Zhuhai, Svitolina announced the end of her two and a half year partnership with Iain Hughes.
