MP Kvitova.
Saved.
Kerber reduces to 4-5.
Kvitova to serve for the match.
3 MPs for Kvitova...
2 MPs for Kvitova...
1 MP for Kvitova....
DEUCE!
Break point for Kerber...
Saved!
Another MP for Kvitova...
DEUCE! (Jesus Christ, a DF...)
Another MP...
DEUCE!
Ok, this is unbelievable.
Break point for Kerber...
DEUCE!
Kerber must be so frustrated, she can't seem to break Petra.
Another MP...
And Kvitova takes it!

Very good comeback win for the Czech. Shame these two had to meet so early, it's quite bizarre. It might just have prevented both from winning the tournament.
It's certainly prevented Kerber from winning it ;)

If it has prevented a (seemingly) in form Kvitova from winning the title, then it's a shame.
I know. but I was thinking about a quote someone made about if she'd won a match she'd have more chance against Navratilova in the next match. The person who beat her said something along the lines of "well she's got less chance than me, she's out" :)

I believe Wozniacki will steal a cheeky Slam before she retires provided she doesn't give up. With Serena's eventual decline, her experience and ability to avoid making silly mistakes, she could just as easily win one as any other counterpuncher out there.

I agree, but only if she aggressively seeks the net as she did last week. Very impressive.

Can't wait to catch the highlights later. Must be one of the best matches of the year. I saw that there was a 41 shot rally at 4-3 40-40 in the third set where Kvitova was up a break but yeah was deuce.

Crazy match, keen to see it.

All based on live rankings:

Radwanska now number 3 in the world with a 300 point lead on Muguruza and could go higher. She's got the SF in Beijing next week to defend (390 points), a title in Tianjin the following week (280 points) and of course the WTA finals (1,180 points!!).

The gap between world #3 and world #6 is just 1,195 points.

#3 Aga needs to defend 1,850 points by year end, #4 Muguruza needs to defend 1,690 points by year end.
#5 Halep only has 370 points to defend whilst #6 Pliskova has 605 points to defend.

So it looks like Halep or potentially Pliskova will finish as our year end #3 unless Aga can do really well in Wuhan, Beijing and the YEC again. I'm basically writing Muguruza off...

#7 Keys is over 1000 points behind #6 Pliskova so highly doubt that she or anyone below her can get to #3 by years end.

As for the WTA finals. The race is looking like

1: Kerber (confirmed)
2: Serena (confirmed)
3: Halep (qualified this week so will be confirmed)
Cutoff is 4435 pts

4: Pliskova (3981 pts) (basically qualified you'd think)
5: Radwanska (3975 pts) (basically qualified you'd think)

6: Muguruza (3558 pts)
7: Keys (3137 pts)
8: Suarez Navarro (3053 pts)
9: Cibulkova (3015 pts)
10: Konta (2835 pts)
11: Kuznetsova (2721 pts)

Then there's a gap of over 500 points to #12 Venus so that's it really.

The underlined players are still playing in Wuhan.

Our top 3 are qualified, two more are pretty much safe you'd say but #6-#11 are all racing for the remaining spots.
Muguruza and Suarez Navarro aren't looking safe because Keys, Cibby, Konta and Kuzzy are all still active in Wuhan.
A win for Cibulkova today would push her in front of Suarez Navarro into the 8th spot.

It is looking really interesting in the next few weeks as the rush for points begins.

Oh and Kvitova is at 19th in the race rankings at 1845 pts.. she'd need to win Wuhan to have a shot, that'd push her to 2555 pts which would be just behind Kuzzy at 12. Can't see Kvitova qualifying.

So looks like we'll be missing 4 of the 8 people we had at the 2015 WTA finals (Sharapova, Kvitova, Pennetta, Safarova).

Enjoyed the way Kuznetsova decimated Williams. Played out of her mind, I don't remember her playing that way. Just perfect.

Yikes, Strycova won 4 straight to go up 5-1, Jankovic won 3 straight and had game point to level it at 5-5 but Strycova breaks her to take the 2nd set 6-4.

My god.
Strycova broke for 2-0 in the 3rd, has since lost 3 games straight and now Jankovic is serving to go up 4-2.

Topsy tursvy match.

I love and appreciate these ranking posts.
Thank you.

Pomee! I'm really looking forward to a Domi/Strycova match. I enjoy both of them when they're on. Hope they bring their A games.

So pissed off. Had some tennis multis and had Strycova and Troicki who had worse odds and they pulled the upset and yet it gets ruined because Hingis/Coco lose their doubles match?? Wow they are appalling. Just another reason to dislike them both.

The time between the Domi/KP & now this Simona/Keys match was seriously the quickest I've ever seen. They're not restricted by any weather with a roof, it's only 4:30 pm over there, but they know how terrible their attendance already is. Straight cattle call to get these matches moving.

Meanwhile in Uzbekistan. (Not something I get to say often enough ;))

Lesser known twin Pliskova is a set away from (what i'm guessing is her first) a main draw WTA SF.
Building on her success from winning a WTA125K series title a few weeks back.

Kozlova would be her SF opponent.
Defending champ Hibino is through to the SF and faces the winner of Allertova/Flipkens.

The dozens of fans there rejoice. This tourney is an absolute embarrassment to the sport.
It's a shame because there's been some good matches.
Directly after uni I worked in a theatre and if a show wasn't sold out we'd give tickets away to attempt a full house. Better atmosphere and generally make some money at the bar.
I don't know why they don't approach local schools/clubs - the attendance is woeful.
I'm not sure if the tickets are for a court, but if they are, why not allow people with outside court tickets to go to centre when there's rain?
Bad organisation.
