Not too surprising of a result tbh.
Kuzzy got through Bencic who retired, crushed Brengle 6-0 6-4, thrashed Venus 6-2 6-2 and now has another top 10 win, this time over Aga. Into another Premier 5 SF.
Next faces Cibby or Strycova.

Over, 4 & 2.

Madison, you just never win anything important.
Hard to really tell from highlights, but if this is the best of the match.... Pretty ropey.
Halep, as ever, fails to go to the net on short balls. But Keys, from the sublime (occasionally) to the ridiculous - some of those misses are embarrassing to watch.
I just don't get the hype. Yes, she hits the ball hard.... Serves hard..... And???

Petra wins in 2.

Mm genuinely shocked, thought Petra would be tired and Konta has been on fire in her recent matches. Ah well.

You can't help but think whoever wins between Halep/Kvitova in the SF has the title. I mean Kuzy/Cibulkova/Strycova with the title would be shocking!

Although, now that I think about it, Cibulkova is about to be top 8 and looks like she'll qualify for Singapore so a Premier 5 title for her shouldn't be too shocking.
Suarez Navarro did get one after all.. Facing Ostapenko in the final :p

I thought Simona looked pretty damn good against Keys, but I don't like Madison anyway. I'd still lean to the player with significantly less court time this week.

Keys the person, like Muguruza, seems pleasant enough ( valley girl vocabulary aside) but her tennis is so predictable. When's she's off its horrible. In my opinion.

Cibby wins in 3 over Kuznetsova.

Cibby had the much easier draw but that's not her fault! Faced Cornet, Siegemund, Pliskova, Strycova and now Kuzy. She dropped sets to Cornet, Siegemund, Strycova and Kuzy.

Her 2nd big final of the year. Reached the Premier Mandatory Madrid Open final but lost to Halep. Also won the Premier Eastbourne tournament.

Reaches a new career high number 8! She had been as high as 10th way back in 2014 after her Aus Open final but had some awful injuries since. Great to see her back at the top. She's 7th in the race to Singapore rankings as well.

My girl putting on a clinic at the moment. The last thing I want to see is Halep with another opportunistic trophy. Come on Kvitova! Get it!

This tournament reminds me of the last time Kvitova won Wimbledon with that tough match against Venus in the early rounds. Suddenly, after a really tight match where any of the two players could've won, something clicks and Kvitova starts feeling the ball (and I think she's a "feel" player despite her "brutal" style of play) and from then on she's in the zone and almost unplayable. Being tired is no longer a factor because she controls every rally and winners are flying off her racquet every other point. She's like a female Wawrinka. Similarly, she doesn't seem to feel any pressure when she knows her game is clicking.

It's also the kind of performance by Kvitova that makes you think "well, maybe Bouchard wasn't such a fluke after all" and "come on Genie, it wasn't that bad". This should give the Canadian more confidence.

Well, that might be a bit of a stretch. After these two rough years, Bouchard needs so much more than this to regain confidence. Besides that, that loss might have been the starting point, but there has to be something more than that to justify what happened to her.

Oh yeah she is a "feel" kind of player, thats for sure. Brutal? Nah, just pure clean flat striking. Easy power. You can hear it so loud and clear indoors, sound from heaven!

Couldn't have said it better. Her strikes are heavenly. Pure joy.
As dear @BlewByU said it once, she plays the impossible tennis. There is noone, NOONE who could stop her when she is on.

Kvitova has a much better forehand even compared to some men e.g. murray... I think this says a lot about her potential and the power of her game

Damn, Domi has played way more this week.

Kvitova=10-1
Cibulkova=10-4
