2017 ATP Sudden Death League: AUSTRALIAN OPEN

The Final Stretch:

An astounding 28 players have reached the SFs - collectively speaking, this is our best ever performance at a Slam event. Congratulations to everyone still alive in the tournament, and best of luck with your last couple of picks!

Keep an eye on what your current ranking is on the sheet as there are going to be some seismic changes after this event. There are 4 contenders for the Number 1 spot (JJGUY, the current holder, kvejkr, winchestervatennis and myself), but there is also a lot of movement in the mid-section as well.
 
I have selection fatigue; ergo, one less pick seems the sensible way to avoid a final pick, which shall be a default when this guy wins tonight:

Not trying to be pedantic but, with the rash of hari kari double picks, doesn't anybody write down their picks round by round or review the spreadsheet to refresh themselves on who they have used??? I've played five seasons and never had a problem bcoz I double check my list and the spreadsheet.

Just a thought.

first slam final and the most points I've gained from a tournament!

Only Nadal left, so I'll have him for the final if he wins the semi.

If not, got my passport ready for the Finnair flight.
 
That is exactly the result I needed to keep my hopes alive.
A Nadal win tomorrow would allow me to enter another Slam Final, making my last pick the biggest risk I'd have ever taken.
 
Well with fed winning I am officially unable to defend my AO title. But oh well atleast I can still reach the final for the second straight year if Nadal wins tommorow.
 
Happy with my run to the semi! Haven't played much the last few seasons but I want to get back into it and play a full season.

Thanks to the guys who organise this for all the hard work you do.

Well done on putting up a strong defence of your title. Hopefully Nadal wins tomorrow to send us through to the Final
If you're happy to play a fuller season, there are many more points on offer at the remaining Slams and the Masters events
 
@Krish872007 I may have missed it but why was the point system for the Grand Slam changed. For example earlier it was 720 points for a SF run and now it is 800?
In my opinion the mirror the SDL point system had with the ATP was a nice add on to this wonderful game.

Yeah that's my main goal this year to participate in more tournaments.

It's a change that was made to bolster points nearer the bottom end of the scale in particular (so as not to totally distort points for early exits), which quite a few people wanted to see. The WTA SDL also uses a similarly adjusted scale - no major alteration, as the total points for the winner are still kept the same. We need to make 10 correct picks, whereas in the true Slam a player needs to win 7 matches

I liked the previous points system but I understand now why the change was made.

It's really a gamble for me since most of you picked Nadal, I will not be able to defend my AO title no matter who wins tonight, but I would be happy too if Nadal wins
 
Well I'm into the final for the second straight year. And even though I can't win the title this time, I am happy that I was able to get this far.
 
Wow, I was feeling the heat when we entered a 5th set there, but thanks to an epic Nadal win, I'm through to the Final!

I have 1 pick left, and I'm going against history, against my better judgement and probably against logic, but I need to witness the completion of Project No. 18 if I am to triumph at this year's AO.

Final: Roger Federer.
 
YES! #18 finally complete, it looked bleak early in the 5th set, but Federer pulled through and has helped me and 9 others win the Australian Open Title! My first Slam in the SDL - absolutely thrilled.

Congratulations to all winners and finalists for getting this far, and thanks to everyone who participated in this brilliant tournament :)
 
Came up just short of my 2nd major...ah well, still an amazing tournament for many many reasons. Thanks for organizing everyone and congrats to all the winners
