2017 ATP Sudden Death League: FRENCH OPEN

Yo are you with Wawrinka or Nadal? @winchestervatennis
Let's assume Murray win this

Really tough choice!
Terribly tough choice roght now. I kinda got that stan feeling and kudos to you for picking it. It may also be "safer" in terms of points to pick nadal, but obviously thiem has a good shot against him. As far as odds go i think i should pick stan in the sf and then i have both thiem and nadal left. But my gut is saying stans gonna win - the problem is im not overly confident picking thiem v nadal. I guess the only thing i can say is im glad i burned murray in the qf and have the other 3 remaining.

I gave sosa09 some valuable insight a couple of days ago, just covering all bases here

Not because of that, but yesterday I thought a million times of changing my pick to Wawrinka. The rain yesterday send me a message: "hey, you have one more day to change your pick, use your head!"

But then I thought, no way Thiem is going to beat Djokovic.. After all, he has PEPE by his side!

SF: Stan
BU: Nadal (do we even have a BU at this level?)
Obviously the commissioner @Krish872007 has the final say, but the way i see it...

A backup is still a good idea in the semis even though you can advance on a walkover. It becomes necessary if your semi pick scratches. Take my case for example. I have picked murray but i have the other 3 available. If i were to pick stan and he withdraws, i need to have a bu from nadal v thiem for a chance to advance.

What im not sure would be allowed, but i dont see why not, could i pick nadal with thiem as bu in case my primary pick withdraws? I think rules say you can advance on a walkover in the semis. @Krish872007 , what say you?

Agree. If you have the options available you can still use the back up

SF: Thiem
BU: Wawrinka
2 years ago I made it to the finals and was going to take a chance and pick Wawrinka to win it, and also be the sole winner of the SDL tournament. But when I logged in to make my pick, one other person beat me to it, so I went with the favourite. And lost. So I'm going to take my chances this time on Thiem upsetting Nadal, and then hope Wawrinka beats Murray before going on to beat Thiem. Murray in the semi and Nadal to win is most likely, but Nadal hasn't had to play anyone yet, and Stan is looking focused.
Good luck everyone.

Hate to quote myself, but I was one of earliest to post a pick and I don't see my selection on the sheet.
My pick for SF is Wawrinka.
Good luck tomorrow everyone!

Huge congratulations to our 3 winners, who navigated the tricky early rounds and came up trumps with Nadal winning his 10th French Open!

@winchestervatennis - what else can we say, 1st RG Title, 2nd Slam title of the year (on CYGS watch right now!), a dominant Number 1 as the lead continues to increase, title #8 overall.

@gogo - 1st Slam title, title #3 overall. Good to have you back!

@JadeC - congratulations on defending the title from 2016, the only one to do so. Big props because it's difficult enough to win 1 Slam in the SDL, even harder to come back and defend it! Moves to No. 1 in our Trophy Case list with 14 career titles, with 4 Slam Titles now.

I'll update everything in due course. In the meantime, thanks to everyone for taking part in another good tournament and this marks the end of our clay season.

The thread for Stuttgart is now up as we begin our grass court campaigns. Play begins tomorrow.

Where does this leave me in the rankings/race?

You're at #4 in the Rankings - switched places with Boozyuzi after the French, but there's only 35 points separating you two at the moment.
Comfortable #2 in the Race with 5,690 pts. #3 is The Green Mile, who is 1,340 pts behind (good cushion), whilst winchestervatennis leads with 7,090 pts (1,400 ahead).
I'm also updating the Wimbledon Race for the Wimbledon seedings, so will get back to you on that one

Okay, thanks for your hard work. Gotta chase winchester now. I didn't do very well at Wimbledon so I can maybe improve my ranking. Thanks very much!

Thanks Krish for running another great event.

Congrats also to all the winners! In particular @winchestervatennis what you are doing this year is just amazing.

Ditto. So kind of Krish to organize this for so many people to enjoy!!

I can't promise I'll be back soon, since I don't usually have that much uninterrupted time to focus on an entire tournament, but I had fun!
