It was really odd how they handled that match. I'd have thought they'd stop after the third but maybe the players wanted to continue? But I thought the grand slams had a rule a match suspended for darkness had to stop at an even number of games, so why did they stop at 5-4? Again, just odd.

I agree. I figured when he won the 3rd that the would suspend the match at that point, I was shocked when they carried on. I think when Olivo broke in the 4th they tried to finish it out yesterday, but then Tsonga crawled back to 4-5 from 2-5 down and they didn't have a choice but to call for darkness. It was totally stupid. Tsonga being French and their top guy in the tournament I figured they would have called it when momentum clearly shifted to him after the 3rd. Seemed totally stupid to have him go out for just one game today in restrospect.

I believe they would only stop the match after the third set if there was no reasonable chance it could finish. Darkness favours the server, so Tsonga should have had a chance to make it 5-5 before it was stopped. Each player should serve the same number of games before stopping. These aren't rules but guidelines.
