This is the only MS1000 64-draw that gives byes to all 16 seeds, making it harder. Add in there are only 8 matches and no matches on Sunday and it's ridiculously harder. There wasn't an easy pick today, which is often the case with Masters events that give byes to top seeds.

Draws come in 32, 64 or 128. This is a 64-draw with 16 byes, the only one of its kind. The other MS1000's only offer 8 byes in the 64-format.56-draw. But IW and Miami are even tougher with 32 byes.
Good season, everybody. Congrats to the WTF qualifiers! See you all in Brisbane.

RACE UPDATE:
With so many WTF Top 8 contenders exiting on Day 1, this throws up an interesting twist to proceedings.
Congratulations to @stringertom who has now sealed the 4th Bonus Competition spot! Currently #4 in the Race and cannot be passed by 5 people.
boredone3456 and JadeC are out of Paris- their fate no longer lies in their hands, though they are still inside the Top 8 in the Race.
The equation is simple now. @The Green Mile MUST reach the Semi-Finals in order to secure a qualification spot.
@gn MUST reach the Paris Final to make the Top 8.
LIVE WTF TOP 8 COUNTDOWN
Hey Krish, wondering if I'm qualified as well, since only @kvejkr , @gn and @The Green Mile can surpass me now. As I see, @Aussie Darcy can no longer get to the points that I have as of now, but I could be wrong!

IW/Miami trim the 128 to 96 but we get 16 matches to choose from on each of the first two days...much easier.
It has traditionally yielded mass bloodbaths in SDL...IIRC there was one year when only one SDLer made it past day 2 and we were all cheering him on to win the whole tournament but he failed pretty late. I think it was Romeo??? Was it 2012 with Janowicz vs Ferrer in the finals or 2013 when then unknown PH Herbert qualified and knocked off Paire 1R???It's certainly a tough draw to pick. What makes it even tougher is that it's a French tournament, meaning there are no garbage wild cards. Their WCs are good players like Mahut and Benneteau.

The day PAYOR changed its definition to Paire At Your Own Risk.2013 when Herbert beat Paire in straight sets on the opening day - that sealed it really.

Don't worry, I wouldn't consider myself a threat! I ruined any chance I had my missing the QF pick for both Basel and Vienna! No chance in hell i'm winning this tournament!Great spot! Yes, I think you're right - you're qualified as well - well done! So that's 5 WTF Top 8 spots now taken, looks like today's results worked out perfectly in your favour
Since both you and Aussie Darcy won today, the points difference can't be made up. Max he can gain on you now is 940 pts, but it looks like you're 990 ahead.
I will follow youNOW, it is on my racquet.
