Expected seeds (EDIT: withdrawals as of Wed August 11; rankings of Monday, August 7):
Murray
1. Nadal
2. Federer
Wawrinka
Djokovic
Cilic

3. Thiem
4. Zverev
5. Nishikori
6. Raonic
7. Dimitrov
8. Tsonga
9. Goffin
10. Berdych
With all the excitement last week over Rogers cup withdrawals etc, I thought it was worth making this thread a bit earlier to collect all the news, discussion and speculation. Of course, we'll be busier this week with the excitement of the Rogers Cup, but surely The Real Slam deserves a thread.

Big question for now is whether Murray and Cilic will be fit, and whether anyone will withdraw as a result of a deep run (or injury ) in Montreal.

EDIT: Murray and Cilic have withdrawn as of August 11. Berdych and possibly Raonic/Kyrgios are still question marks afaict. Pouille and Simon have also withdrawn.

LOL TRS1000 sounds like some kind of terminator model; what has Sureshs created?

Hopefully Fed shows up as the T-850 aka "Uncle Bob" at TRS and Zverev as the T1000

Somehow it will probably work out just like the movie much to Sureshs' chagrin.:D

Pretty quick study, OP. ;)

Hope this tourney's the smash that we've come to expect!
@mightyjeditribble 1000 lashes for putting up the poll without the field, but I'd say it's better this way so people can vote right away and get more fired up. Not sure if the mods can edit.

Wimbledon was expertly controlled, but seems it generates more excitement if fans can vote before the draw comes out. In that tradition, I'm going to vote now for ********* in the hopes that he exhausts himself for the US Open.:D

Just the qualifying for TRS1000 is far, far superior to Rogers Cup. In the ideal world I'd like to see only Manny move up and then 4 drop from the qualifier list so Janowicz and Gulbis make qualifying. I might have to make the long haul down to TRS just to catch the action with Edmund, Medvedev, Rublev, Chung, Kohly, Donaldson, Tiafoe, and Kokkinakis also in the mix (plus a bunch of other fine players).:p

Qualifying draw: Friday, August 11, 9:00 p.m.

So if Murray does not withdraw will he be #1 seed in Cincy, or does it depend on Montreal results and how far Nadal goes?

Any news about the health status of Murray/Cilic/Berdych yet?

Rumours are that Raonic is having some complaints again as well. :O

Murray almost surely won't play so we'll have Rafa-Fed again as the top 2 seeds.

Out of curiousity, when was the last time Nadal and Federer were seeded 1 and 2, respectively, at any tournament before this year's Canadian Open? It's got to have been quite a while, like 2011 maybe?

I believe Nadal is now guaranteed to overtake Murray when Cincy is over if not before. Fed still has a chance in theory to make #1, if he does really well and Nadal doesn't in the two tournaments.

If Roger makes a final or two semis, Fedal will be top two seeds at USO also.

Either way, we're looking at a new #1 in the coming week(s)!

The organisers may be hoping that Fedal lose early in Montreal, so they are less likely to pull out of TRS ...

Not looking likely given the way the draw in Canada is shaping up at the moment though!

Fed is stupid enough to also play Cincy?

Doesn't he understand that the USO is the biggest prize? Why tire himself out needlessly for these trifles?
