Surely Sock wouldn't have the temerity to win a tiebreaker in this match?

Will Federer take all of Sock's time away causing a UE fest with his forehand or will Sockberger find a way to bring his mighty forehand to bear?

The handwringering for this one appears to be at a fever pitch with most keeping a low profile. How do you remain so cool under pressure?
If most are keeping a low profile, then how can the handwringing be at a fever pitch ?

As far as your question is concerned, what will be will be.

Federer will annhilate him, this is a very bad matchup for Sock. Sock's backhand wing is very vulnerable, so he tries to avoid it as much as possible. His forehand whilst potent is a very unorthodox technique, full western grip, and needs to be timed perfect for it to be good. Full western grip is harder to hit lower balls, especially slices which Fed is so good at. Federer's aggressive play will not allow Sock to set up his forehand, so to be honest I cannot see Sock having much hope at all in this contest.

Unless Sock finds a way to flatten out his forehand and hit his backhand acceptably throughout the whole match I don't see Fred getting in any sort of trouble. Sock doesn't have massive serving days.

Fed does need to avoid net when he's breakpoint down, cause Sock will make all the passing shots

My gut says both players will play well in this match. Sock has added a lot of wrinkles to his game with Berger already, so I believe Sockberger will make a match of this one, but still Federer in 3. Should be great to watch.

Will this work on the forehand?

Big serves, big forehands.

Socks gameplan is pretty obvious but he's leaving the court too open in his desperation to avoid a backhand.

Slighty off topic, but has Nadal confirmed he's playing. I'm assuming he is since I haven't yet seen a withdrawal announcement.

It doesn't look that bad really, not as fast as Paris or Shanghai.

Federer is certainly slicing more against Sock, interesting how he will not use that slice against the other player in this tournament who also uses excessive top spin.

He even stated he was 100%.

Sock playing very, very well. Got Federer to 40 all in his first service game. Blitzerer brings a lot of pressure and Sock handling it very well.:p

Regardless of which player you support. If your guy is a break up, and the oppenent hits 2 doubles from 40-0 up and you start yelling "Cmon my guy", you're an absolute ****

Nadal and Thiem have been known to eat slices alive. Looks like the play against Sock for now. Sock just handled the net advance.

Don't think Federer will live that down for a while. Hopefully, he closes out the set. His serve seems suspect.

Pretty good tennis from both in the first set, but I have to say watching this I feel like a crack addict in detox. Milan scoring system is crack.
