2017 ATP World Tour Finals RR - Thiem(3) vs. Goffin? or Querrey?

Why is Goffin playing this match? Grueling match with Nadal where his knee was catching some in the 3rd set. Even with a full day off, Goffin was not able to recover well enough to put up a fight with Dimitrov. Should Goffin prevail in this match he'll face Federer who destroyed him in Basel a month ago. Goffin having the alternate Querrey take over, will put his friend Thiem into the semis automatically no matter the result of the later match. Why do this with the Davis Cup Final starting in 7 days?

Surely, Goffin would only consider playing this if he felt able to win. He has to be seen as the favorite given what he did to Nadal (another heavy clay type hitter). Thiem will be in for the fight of his life if Goffin decides to play.

Yes, Meles. I didn't doubt for a second he would continue to play, as long as he can still play. No one, even ******* (wow knee-dal is now banned too, along with a series of -erer's lol) would have squandered their chances to reach the semis here, even with a Federer waiting for him there.

That said, no way he would win this match and of course might hurt his chances at the DC final.

Haha. Thiem is just finding out now that Goffin is just fine. Feeling better; had just changed league pick to Goffin in 2. Goffin simply can't be that bad with Davis Cup coming up in a week.

This is a bad matchup for Thiem, so a near 100% Goffin tough. Thiem looked sharp when Goffin was not pressuring him. Odd match so far.
