He needs to hit some flat shots if we wants to get counted on these stupid courts.LOL. Thiem's hard court horrors continue. Belly up at the last gasp on serve.

Kiki's luck is rubbing on Thiem.
Made quite a match out of this with the late break to take the 2nd and another break to get back on serve late in the 3rd.Stop using that word. Otherwise you will be reported .
Thiem has had 7 losses and 2 wins on the tour since the Delpo loss.
Delpo, Pella, Johnson, Troicki, Gasquet, Verdasco and now Dmitrov - LMFAO.
2 wins against Gojowczyk and Rublev.
So embarrassing from Thiem. Now I want Goffin to beat him to a pulp in the hope that some sense can be knocked into him.
Well done, Dimitrov. "What Rafa would do" mentality it seemed.
Both should be ashamed of themselves of what happened from 5-4 to 7-5.
Will Norman perform HC wonders for him in the same way that he did for Stan?Made quite a match out of this with the late break to take the 2nd and another break to get back on serve late in the 3rd.
Thiem's game is subtle on hard courts. He relies on getting hot on first return. His serve is much better this year on the whole, but serve game still not solid enough for these tough matches. He's a bit of a fish out of water on the faster hard courts, but WTF playable for him right now.
His 2nd serve points won dip badly when he's in a funk. Thiem won a very, very credible 37% of first return points in the 3rd set. Really just a few pieces to the puzzle eluding him on hard court and the serve, bound to improve with time, is one of them.
Excellent opening match for Group B.

What is going on in the bottom video?
He does on his first return and if he's not up against a Raonic class server can do damage with his first return which is a flat bunt. The problem was an implosion on that last serve game including ending it with 2 DFs. Outside of return Thiem is much better off hitting heavy, heavy, heavy and angling and working the ball around. A deep topspin shot is enough for winners. Thiem gets himself in trouble when he does try to flatten out and hit the big winner. He can flatten out on slower courts, but not enough time with his swing to avoid UEs on hard. His best game is to grind against his opponents and hope they flounder at having to hit big winners or cough up some short balls for Thiem to pounce on.He needs to hit some flat shots if we wants to get counted on these stupid courts.
Will? or do you mean would? Will Norman perform HC wonders for him in the same way that he did for Stan?
You don't think it's happening? Were I a gambling man, I'd place money on it.Will? or do you mean would?
I know my player.
Thiem impressively broke back to get back into the 3rd set. Dimitrov did not really break as Thiem did that to himself with back to back DFs.Pretty much. But Dimitrov broke back immediately and won in the end, that's the most important thing. Escaping that mess should boost his confidence anyway imo.
LMAO... when in doubt, play like Federer and act like Rafa. Grigor lacks originality, and I'm saying this in all seriousness. He needs to break out of this shell if he's going to be taken seriouslySo embarrassing from Thiem. Now I want Goffin to beat him to a pulp in the hope that some sense can be knocked into him.

I would rather say gross over-estimation.No Rafa-Goffin thread ? Gross underestimation of the World No 1
Deserving, but I've been making all too many match threads lately. No Rafa-Goffin thread ? Gross underestimation of the World No 1
Rafa fans often escapes this forum when he plays because of nastyness from other posters, aint no fun w the constant flow of negativity.Deserving, but I've been making all too many match threads lately.
Think both Thiem and Grigor are taken very seriously. World Class players.LMAO... when in doubt, play like Federer and act like Rafa. Grigor lacks originality, and I'm saying this in all seriousness. He needs to break out of this shell if he's going to be taken seriously
Why is Nadal trying to end him?Nothing. Just a somewhat bromance bump instead of a conventional hi. Better with sound here: https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/929385245987803136/pu/vid/1280x720/Nq0-TzL3vHroNmt6.mp4
Yep, I'm well aware that Thiem broke himself more than Dimitrov broke him in that game. But you have to give credit to Dimitrov since he didn't fade away in the next game but blasting a BH winner off Thiem's 2nd serve right off the bat on the 1st point, which must have given him something to think about on top of all the nerves already.Thiem impressively broke back to get back into the 3rd set. He definitely pressured Thiem into having to hit bigger 2nd serves. I see this match as a positive for both players; both are in great form coming out of this match. Thiem's issue is purely mental. He's fine serving out of big holes a lot of the time. He just keeps failing to serve out matches or in this case serve out the last game.Yep, I'm well aware that Thiem broke himself more than Dimitrov broke him in that game. That's what I mean by saying he seemed to be able to adopt that "What Rafa would do" mentality in that moment, brushing off the disappointment (getting broken when serving for the match no less) to fight till the end and very much deserves to win the match, messy and Thiem melting or not. In fact he talked about it after he won Cincy, not my speculation, even though it might sound "ridiculous" at first.
How many 1st serve points in the set?Made quite a match out of this with the late break to take the 2nd and another break to get back on serve late in the 3rd.

Same problems posting?I see it was for the best anyway. The board is still a hollow mess.
And I aion't talking bout the posters.
Same problems posting?
Let me expand... Grandslam title contender, he is NOT.Think both Thiem and Grigor are taken very seriously. World Class players.
Yup. I just checked...Yes, Gary.
I know they are working on it and everything.
Can someone explain why Thiem stands so far back on second serve??
