This has to be nerves can't be rust, the rust wasn't there at the Hopman Cup, Fed being really tentative in rallies.

Melzer doesn't tend to grind like Gasquet, and he's certainly no Evans. He can hit a hard ball so it's going to be tougher for Fed to be aggressive.

Melzer is actually a pretty tough first round opponent. He is much better than the ranking he has because of an injury.

My eyes widened today when I saw Fed's "qualifier" was Melzer. A former top-10 player, leftie, and won his last match against Fed. So not your usual qualifier.

Very good stuff from Fed at the end of this set.

Melzer was an easy opponent for Fed 6-7 years ago. Look at their slam matches in 2010. Fed was in pretty bad form at Wimb and he still straight setted him.
