All of that stuff made up the beginnings of my learning the guitar before "graduating" to complicated prog rock and virtuoso solo stuff (like Satch and Vai).
Wonderful. So transitioned you to musicianship, a bit. Think the harmonization and pace did the most for me.

Only switched over for the last couple of points. Perhaps I'm nuts, but Paire looked like he 100 percent gave up on that match point. That really looked like an easy return.

Thiems survives a bit of a scare and shoulder issue. Not so sure he can turn the tables on Goffin and avenge last years loss.

I just always loved the raw energy of punk rock. Listening to songs from Americana for the first time was a revelation to me. And then it began. Even now, I feel that music deep at my core as essence. The energy and the belligerence of the music, as well as the trollishness, always compelled me. Besides, I've always been a rebel, and I still am.

Greg Graffin was definitely a scholarly badass. :) They had some doozies.

Thiem to win AO

Yeh, Murray really can't handle ball bashers.

Actually Thiem comes up against a bigger hitter and he doesn't have a fall back either. I've seen it against Anderson comes to mind. He should try to add a little variety to his game but I heard he may be lacking when it comes to training.

"Currrraaaazy Taaaxii"

But yeah, good old Greg Graffin and his convoluted lyrics. My fave song of theirs is probably The Gray Race.
To this day... some of his verbalizations (and Fat Mike's, et al.) inform my own.

EDIT: That one song, Entropy, was catchy.

That' s better then. To me it truly looked like he just lazily hit it out.
Well Thiem was on a bit of a roll. Benoit did pretty well today considering his ranking has dropped so much. Forehand a bit of liability. Net play against Thiem can get you burned. Paire had 0-40 on Thiem's first two serve games in the 2nd set and probably let the first one go with a bad shot or two. Thiem didn't give him a chance on the 2nd game. Paire kept it together and won the set.

Paire got absolutely shelled too in the first set with Thiem hitting on all cylinders, so really after that and those two games he did quite well mentally.

Anyone see Roger's presser ? The guy is so classy. Why can't he be my President instead of the morally bankrupt, corrupt Clown-fool i'm stuck with for six months until the impeachment. :(

No, I mean, I'm sure Paire played a competitive match throughout. He just seemed to hit a lazy return on that final ML, as if he was sick of playing or something. I'm glad my eyes deceived me.

I still feel their impact. Generally, when I come to like music it isn't just a phase and I'll just always like it. When it comes to punk rock, a lot of what is said resonated with me deeply as a teen, and frankly it still does to a fair degree. There's one odd exception. I don't really like Dream Theater anymore. I don't know why, but for some reason they died for me. Anything else I got into, I've stayed into. I have an album recommendation for you when you have the time. I only discovered this a few weeks back - perhaps you know it? If you haven't heard it, take the time to have a gander at some point.

I'll stay on topic now.

Had not heard of. Will listen to, and actually will make a point of finding those BR tracks again, too. Got to shut all those down to take in the Nadcrush. Good chat. TC.

Boisterous French contingent propped him up but we are talking about Paire here.

Generally a very safe assumption.

It appears he was attempting to hit a winner? I was just surprised, seemed like a not-too-tricky second serve, not at all meriting a return that sloppy. But defending MLs ain't easy, so I'll give him benefit of the doubt.

Anyone watching Istomin-carreno busta? I'm hoping Denis can keep up his level from 2 days ago

You're very generous because he lost the benefit of the doubt a long time ago.

Looking forward to Thiem/Goffin and Dimitrov/Gasquet. Have not seen any of Gasquet's matches this tournament, but the scorelines make it seem like he must be playing pretty well.
