First Semi set up. Sugita vs. Istomin.

Didn't watch Sugita, but score seemed pretty much as an easy affair for Japanese player.

Istomin needed a breaker on final set to go through. Denis deserved, very good result for him.
Good overall match, Jared needs to add some variety to his tennis if he wants to get anywhere into top 30 in ATP rankings.
Many points were just done, but he is 'afraid' to go to the net, and the point begins again...And has to improve 2nd serve.
He defenitely needs more tactics to his game to make a quality jump.

Interesting that Baghdatis is showing some form all of a sudden. Just made his 1st ATP final since 2016 Dubai! Maybe he is playing injury free for once which is helping him get more consistency back into his game. Would be nice to see him get on the titles scoreboard again after a 7 year drought (last title won was 2010 Sydney). 4 titles (all 250s) is a meagre showing for someone of his ability who once made a Slam final and took a set off peak Federer!

Interesting final under way! To me there is no real obvious favourite here.

I like both players but slightly favouring Istomin. I quite like Istomins "buggy whip" forehand and its ability to fire down interesting angles without much notice. (very good example of it in Baghdatis first service game of the final).

In dubs, this is worth taking notice: Quereshi has won the dubs title with Erlich, his fifth title of 2017 with his fifth different partner. Nice touch, a Pakistani partnering with an Israeli and on the day after Yom Kippur.
at least this, after marcos' regretable retirement :(

playing istomin didn't bring him luck, once again !
(also retired against him after a few games last time they played)
