US Open champion Sloane Stephens will lead the United States against Belarus in the Fed Cup final this month.
The U.S. Tennis Association announced captain Kathy Rinaldi's roster on Wednesday.
Joining Stephens for the best-of-five-matches final on an indoor hard court in Minsk, Belarus, on Nov. 11-12 are two-time Grand Slam semifinalist CoCo Vandeweghe, Shelby Rogers and Alison Riske.
Stephens, who won her first major championship at New York in September, is currently ranked 13th. Vandeweghe is No. 12, Rogers is No. 59 and Riske is No. 70.
The U.S. is in its first Fed Cup final since losing to Italy in 2010. The Americans won the last of their record 17 titles in 2000.
This is the first final for Belarus.
Belarus has announced its team to face USA in the 2017 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final on home soil in Minsk on 11-12 November.
Aryna Sabalenka, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava will form Eduard Dubrou’s team for next week’s Final, when the Belarusians will bid to win the Fed Cup title for the first time in the nation’s first appearance in the Final.
While Sabalenka, Sasnovich and Lapko have been a part of Belarus’ unprecedented success this year, Marozava is something of a surprise pick for the Belarusian team.
Ranked at No. 477 in singles, Marozava comes into the fold as a doubles specialist, ranked No. 69, for her first Fed Cup appearance since 2013 when she played three ties in Europe/Africa Zone Group I.
Sabalenka will lead the Belarusian team, with the world No. 78 hoping to build on the form that saw her win decisive fourth rubbers to hand Belarus victory over Netherlands, in February, and Switzerland, in April’s semifinals.
Meanwhile, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the stalwart of the Belarusian team, could prove a pivotal influence in next week’s Final. Sasnovich has compiled an 18-9 win-loss record for her country and is on a five-match winning streak in singles rubbers, having compiled notable wins over Michaella Krajicek, Kiki Bertens, Viktorija Golubic and Timea Bacsinszky to help Belarus reach this year’s Final.
Nineteen-year-old Lapko, the world No. 130, has been nominated for Belarus for the sixth time, having compiled a 4-1 win-loss record – in doubles rubbers – for her country.
Yup. WTA matches only on beIN channel. I didn't even know this until I came across some matches a couple of months ago. Nice to watch/record matches live separate from Tennis Channel.
I'm hoping they decide to hold Fed Cup 2018 back here on the islands.
So like her Boyfriend want full custody or part visitation rights ? and Vika is in Europe most of the time so he wants Vika at USA ? If Vika had the kid with me, I would just let her have the child full custody, that is so convenient. I don't have to pay for raising the kid or anything, that is Great..........Custody battle for her kid.

Vika needs to play for Belarus to have a chance. and she should just live in Florida and become USA citizen. it is better for her for tax reasons probably. Not sure how the new tax law will affect her though.Well his fear seems to be that if he lets Vika take the kid to Europe he will never see the kid again, and that there will be nothing that can be done about it once the kid leaves US soil...so he is pushing the issue now. I don't understand how that all works in accordance with international law or whatever because I would guess the kid is a duel citizen by birth to Belarus as well so their laws might come into play...who knows. I feel for Vika.
Either way, The USA is the favorite going in, but Sloane hasn't won a match since the US Open and Coco is so hot and cold...although she's been clutch for team USA all year.

With this lineup.... I say Belarus dial 911 and get Vika to fly out there Really fast or they have no chanceShe lives in California.
Day 1:
Sasnovich v. CoCo
Sabalenka v. Sloane
Sabalenka brings that Hope Solo look. Sloane looks softSabalenka is currently leading Sloane at 4-1. Sloane looks rather flat compared to Sabalenka who showed tons of energy and gutsy attacking game.
Sabalenka's dress reminds me of Christmas.![]()
I know that Sabalenka is falling apart right now, but I wonder what her ceiling is. She has really good power, especially from the backhand, and decent court coverage.
